The "I" is handwritten in a distantive cursive. It's difficult to tell if it was out of a notebook or if it was just a letter written by itself. The light from the police officer inside goes dark and there is the sound of a car pulling up in the drive way. A faint growl can be heard as the car parks nearby and it sounds like Detective Rookie's voice can be heard trying to get the dog to find you. Knowing that Detective Rookie doesn't like bounty hunters, warned you not to interfer, and not to tresspass here it's best to say if he catches you this won't end well. What do you want to do?
I hurriedly stick the paper in my pocket and go off in the opposite direction of the dog, trying to get back to at least the edge of the city as quickly as possible, where it'll be easier to lose him if he's following me.
Though I don't really know how much luck Detective Rookie is going to have in following me with the dog, seeing as he doesn't really have anything to trace me with in the first place.

The dog growl and barks following your scent on the damp grass. From the sounds of the dog it's a German Shepard and a big one at that. Detective Rookie can be heard trying to follow the dog at a run. It's fairly ovious that the dog is running after you. Luckily for you though there happens to be a patch of wild mint that you run through and confuse the dog. The growl and barking stops after a few more minutes but you don't stop running until you are on the edge of the city. You left bootprints but that couldn't be helped hopefully Detective Rookie doesn't match your bootprints to when he saw you the first time.
The newspapers don't have much on Blackwell's Island aside from a minor note that the asylum would be getting a donation. Prohibition, Women's Right to vote, and several other news wortly articles were there. Though oddly the articles Nellie Bly had written were missing.
"Huh suspicious" she muttered to herself. Her brain was doing the whole What If thing it normally did. One scenario could've been that the original cadaver (or murder victim) was murdered by a family member who supported the asylum alot.. or that could be a stretch. Whatever it was Nellie Bly's articiles had been removed, probably by someone who wanted to avoid something getting out. Which meant the asylum had to be connected to the orginal murder AND perhaps the most recent one.

Blackwell Island Asylum had a horrible reputation for what they did to their pacients, and much more. The original murder happened before the Asylum was reviewed and right after Nellie Bly's book became pubic. At the time women considered insane could be put in the asylum even if they were perfectly sane and the family paid enough money to do so. Aside from the pages the library seems a dead end. Maybe there is another place that you could go to to find more information or a copy of Nellie Bly's book.
(This is just a reping)

Well, I don't know if Detective Jones meant the note about the Mexican restaurant as a recommendation or not, but I'll take it as one, because I'm bored, indecisive, and have absolutely no ideas. So if I'm about here in town I take a right.... and a left.... wait, is that right or left? Fun fact, I'm left handed and due to a combination of scatterbrainedness and assumptions by my teachers/etc that everyone in the class was right handed, I can't tell left from right for the life of me half the time.

Eventually you get to the restraunt and Detective Jones knows what she's talking about as the restraunt is packed. You are seated nearby a couple who are discussing the competition and the recent murder related to the competition.
"Murdered are you sure," The man asks. He is middle aged with well groomed brown and grey hair. He has both a scholarly look and a look of someone you didn't want to cross.
"I'm sure Mr.Green," The red haired woman answers she seems like she's in a bit of a rush, "it's in the news plus I got a look at the manor while the police were there. And I'm pretty sure someone bought or stole all the Nellie Bly books. I looked in the library even the news articles were missing. No one noticed until I pointed it out."
"Miss Icily calm down please as you know our deal we split the money evenly when the murders are solved. Any lawyer tries to contest that and I'll have my lawyers fight for the money. Blackwell's Island has been closed for years so if we managed to get out there we'd still have no records and no clue what we're looking for in there. Besides it's a maze and you and I both know it or need I remind you what happened to Cononel Mustard with the candlestick?"
Miss Icily shutters, "No need."
After a bit their food comes and after eating with Mr. Green paying the bill they leave.

Dessie took out a notebook and jotted down the note, "Possibly Jane Doe was rich and someone else wanted the money to send to Asylum?" she muttered it to herself along with "rich person?"

A man walks into the library paciently waiting to use the machine. He's a tallish blond with brown eyes, round glasses, and is slightly pudgy. Polietly he waits for you to finish using the machine.
"Excuse me miss," The man says, "Did you happen to find any of the articles written by Miss Nellie Bly or any articles about Blackwell Island?" He is holding a book which is quiet old and it's hard to see the title.

"Un-surprisingly no, it seems like someone wanted to keep whatever happened then under wraps and removed most of the sources from the public resource" she remarked to the man. She quickly glanced up and down him attempting to at least ascertain his money status because who else would be interested in blackwell...
unless he was one of the other competitors to solve the Jane Doe murder

"I had a bad feeling Mr.Green made it here before I did," The man spoke, "Are you also here to solve the murders? I understand there were mulitple unexplained deaths at the asylum and I want to try to solve them." He seems sincer. His clothes had a few tears and patches on them but then again old clothes don't mean much. His glasses were older but he had the look of a professor. Maybe this was his attempt at trying to put you at ease.
