For truth, Mermydon knew exactly where to find the best kelp trees towards the cascade, but he was taking his leisure to give Kanakwella time to share with him how she felt. But she wasn't allowing her feelings to be expressed in her lateral field. He didn't think it very fair that she wasn't willing to share. Since she was still as mucha filly as a mare, Mermydon ran out and found a little place to hide himself. Everyone else was taking their ease, so he figured a few minutes of play with the princess wouldn't be to hurtful.

As he sat he heard Aleria swimming to and fro getting help from Amethyst and Raka to collect the fishes. He silently wished her luck because she, at least, wasn't allowing relationships or exhaustion to inhibit her from her chore. Though love play, even as he knew, when mates wanted quality time was a difficult thing to lay aside against all other matters that didn't directly affect them. Mermydon had seen and experienced it himself in his time. Quite possibly even Yal and Uryi may even choose to remain here in the lake, once they discover that the river south was reined by the merfolk. He expected it would be the one thing that might shorten everyone that would be willing to follow him up into the mountains again. Grim Rose and Metal already had his god-filly to keep them happy and likely they would keep their distance for her young sake. But he was happy for the three of them, even if he never saw them face to face again. He also considered some of the family ties and other friendships that were forming with the coming of Spring. Amara and Smit and perhaps even Meara and her patient (Cain) that they hadn't formally met yet and needed to help. That last may prove to be nothing but her interest of his welfare was genuine. Not to forget Akega and Heroine, who even now they felt the need to keep an eye on one another even more important than the life of another kelparie. At the moment he felt like the pebble calling a boulder a rock, seeing as here he was trying to kindle his own relationship with the princess, even as he was going to fetch a good firm kelp tree to use to stretcher Meara's patient back to the middle island where they could at least meet up with Dhuka tonight and regroup with the others in the morning. He still owed Raka and Akega a tour of the Shaledon Ruins. His free thinking as he waited for her to pass caused his lateral field to project some and if Kanakwella found herself in it, she could find him easily. He expected her to pass him by, nervously looking to find him and guide her to the kelp and back so she wouldn't get lost, nor surface to orient herself. Then he could sneak up behind her, press his chest against her dorsal side and preen and wicker on her soft neck and show her a little appreciation for the care she showed him earlier.

Amethyst sighed but followed. She would help out if she needed so badly. She looked at Raka. Would they ever have peace and quiet together? It seemed like now.

Amethyst blushed and smiled. Her face was scarlet. She helped herd the fish but was slightly distracted. She couldn't stop smiling nor stop blushing. Her mind clung the what he had said.

Amethyst tried to think straight and herd the fish but she found herself stopping at random times and letting fish slip away from her. She sighed and tried to do her best at herding the fish. She found it strange doing this. Why did they need fish?
