Still, stories here more often have an element of truth than not, and as you take a step towards the path, you feel a chill run down your spine--or maybe that's just your own wariness giving you pause.
As you approach, you realize that the path isn't made of flattened stalks or beaten dirt as you'd expect. Instead, it appears that the grass where the path is has been, oddly, unnaturally trimmed down to a uniform length, almost as if someone has taken a scythe to it.
Just as you go to set foot on it, however, your ears suddenly pick up a faint noise. It comes from farther away on the main road, but, judging by how fast the volume is picking up, whatever's causing it is rapidly approaching. It doesn't take long for you to recognize what it is--in fact, you've heard the same sound several times today already: hoofbeats.

She thought it was normal for people to travel to Perell, but the timing seemed weird. She didnt think people would be traveling that much around at night, so the message was probably urgent. But she thought about the path again and just decided to stay on the main one.

(Just imagine a lot of this yk)

Apothecary list added to Inventory
5 silvers added to Inventory

You head into town, passing few people the street as you make your way to the marketplace. As usual, it's a quiet day with just a few people milling about doing their business or just stopping to smell the roses (sometimes literally), some of whom greet at you in passing. You recognize a more than a few vaguely familiar faces as you walk by--Ravyne's not exactly a large or particularly populated town, though you do also see your fair share of people who are obviously not locals, staring in awe at the colorful blooms or sketching them in notebooks.

Speaking of colorful blooms, flowers are everywhere you look, growing on bushes, lining the road, planted in boxes, brightening up the windows of nearly every other shop. The ground is littered with petals, whisking about in every direction every time the wind blow, and more than a few get caught in your hair within minutes. Goodness forbid anyone with allergies live in Ravyne, though nobody can argue that it isn't at least a little charming.

You pass several stalls selling flowers and a rather ridiculous amount of florists before you even make it to the center of town, where there's at least a bit more variety in businesses, as well as shops selling more practical things, such as food and equipment. There are quite a few apothecaries in town, though, and you realize that the boy hadn't specified any particular one. If he's correct and it is just a cold, though, any apothecary will probably do--such a common remedy ought to be in stock pretty much everywhere, at any time. It shouldn't be difficult to find one that has what you need.

Going off this, she heads for the nearest one, nothing bothering too much with brushign flowers out of her hair. She rather likes the aesthetic. Though seirously, how florist buisnesses survive with so much competition she has no idea.

The first familiar scents you manage to make out besides Charlie's are that of the traders who'd stopped by earlier, made more distinct by the fact that they'd been traveling in a group. The rain is quickly washing them away, though, and you can't manage to tell whether Liyah was among or even anywhere near them. In fact, you don't scent Liyah at all. Despite your attempts to discern any other smells, the scent of petrichor is overwhelming almost everything else, and even Charlie's is quickly fading the longer you try.

Since you can't pick up any clues as to where Liyah's gone--by scent, at least--you head off in the opposite direction of Charlie's departure, which is coincidentally the same path the traders had seemingly left town on. As you half walk, half splash your way through the streets, you don't see much aside from the last few villagers in town hurrying to seek shelter. Some of them cast you wary or quizzical glances as you walk by, though most pay you no mind. Within minutes, you reach the edge of the village; just a little farther and you'll be at the base of the cliff, where scattered patches of forest soon give way to unforgiving stone. Straight ahead of you stands the seemingly insurmountable cliffs that isolate Hanne from what lies beyond it. The more gentle slopes of the hills are over to your right, but since Hanne's built nearly right up against the cliff, you'll have to take an awkward path that runs parallel to and partially up the cliff face to get around to them.

(Unfortunately, this is not your house)

~~~
The first thing you notice when you wake up is not that you're sore from sleeping on the ground, which you're rather used to by now, but that you're...damp?
It seems that the abandoned shack you'd chosen as a sleeping spot last night had been a poor decision, as, judging by the puddles that have pooled in several places on the sagging floor, the roof was not quite waterproof. It hadn't been raining when you'd settled in last night, but perhaps you should've known better--or maybe you'd just overestimated the quality of the construction.
At least it sounds like it's not raining anymore, though the roof is still dripping in a few spots. In fact, the sunlight spilling through cracks in the walls and the open doors is annoyingly bright. And, fortunately, your little hiding spot near the town's outskirts seems to have avoided discovery another day. Although waking up in a puddle probably isn't considered a good omen, it otherwise seems like a fine day to set off without too many complications.
And, if nothing else, it'd at least be nice to find at least find a place where the roof doesn't leak.
As you turn back toward the main path, the hoofbeats continue to grow closer. Within seconds, you can see the silhouette of the horse and its rider, though you can't make out much of their features. As they draw nearer to you, though, instead of thundering past, they begin to slow down. There's a saying that riders on the Albatross Line never stop until they reach their next destination, though, what with how you're standing in the road in the middle of the night with no village in sight for at least a few miles, you probably are a fair cause for curiosity.
Eventually, the horse comes to a stop some distance from you. In the moonlight, you can make out that the rider is a woman with reddish hair, her steed a pure white, but you can't quite discern her expression as she calls out, "What're you doing out here at this hour?"
(Just imagine it's darker lol)
~~~

They probably survive solely by the fact that there's just so much business to split amongst them.
You head over to the closest apothecary, which is just across the street. Surprisingly, it's not as obnoxiously colorful or flower-adorned as most of the town--there are a few flowers growing in the windows, but you get the feeling that they're actual herbs, more functional than decorative.

The inside of the shop is much dimmer than outside, and it takes a couple of seconds for your eyes to adjust. The windowsills are indeed lined with herbs and flowers, and there are also a couple of plants scattered in darker corners or on high shelves. Below them sit various items, including jars, bottles, and other containers (some empty, most not) and several instruments or tools. Most of the walls, however, are lined with rows upon rows of small, labeled drawers and compartments, and from the ceiling hang a few baskets and dried herbs. In the center of everything is a huge wooden desk upon which is scattered more paraphernalia, including mortars and pestles, bowls, and various ingredients. Mostly, though, it's heaped with giant stacks of books, some of which are nearly as tall as the desk itself.

The person you assume to be the apothecary is standing at one of the shelves with his back to you when you walk in, though he glances over his shoulder when the bell on the door jingles. He doesn't appear to be much older than you, but at least he looks like the sort of person who knows what they're doing.

After little consideration, I scrapped my previous character because murder is not okay.

Will probably have slow responses cuz of school :')

Calden Weiss
"Rapunzel"

Gender/Pronouns
Male, He/Him

Age
21

General Appearance
He has long white hair thats often kept in a braid, a braid that earned him his nickname. Though he may be more closely related to a greedy dragon than the fair princesses they kidnap, considering the patches of iridescent scales splattered across his cheeks and the back of his hands. His curved white horns and the slitted pupils of his blue eyes are also notable features. Wears gloves most of the time.

Starting Location
Hanne

Personality
Calm, polite, and quiet at first, but may show a more mischievous side when more comfortable. Possesses much curiosity and eagerness to learn. Reckless.

Backstory
For most of his life, he took care of his younger siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews as their parents, for some reason or another, could not or would not do it themselves. So he just ended up being the familys designated babysitter. As a result, he often didnt have much free time or energy left to do all the things he had wanted to do. But now that the nephew he had been looking after had turned five a couple days ago, at long last he is allowed to give a proper start in unraveling this worlds many mysteries.

- Sweets
- Glass pens
- Thunder

Dislikes
- Complete absence of noise, hes too used to having some sound in the background.
- When things are disorganized, his trainwreck of a room has been nibbling at his sanity.
- His scales. He wishes he could have been born without them, as his skin wont be completely soft because of them. At least, not without having to use his ability. The gloves are to help him forget about their existence.

Fears
Big bodies of water, having almost drowned once. Not making it twice if he can help it.

Ambitions/Dreams
To learn as much as he can about this world.

Biggest Flaw
A severe lack of confidence.
