You leave Perell behind you within minutes, and soon the lights of the town are out of sight, the bustle of the town completely inaudible even to your ears. In the complete darkness, it's almost eerie, but peaceful at the same time--you can hear the faint chirp of crickets in the open fields, and a cool night wind rustles the grass as you walk. You're not sure where you're headed, but you know that, if you continue along on the road, it'll take just about a night's worth of traveling to reach next town on the Albatross Line. On the other hand, you could simply leave the road and head off into the wilderness, but you're much less certain about what you'll find, or if you're prepared and equipped enough.

(Sorry for the late reply! Tower of Fantasy came out globally this morning so I've been busy)
She decides to stay on the path. She might come across some wild animals or more bandits out in the wilderness. Plus, she could just split off later when dawn comes around. At least then shed know that less horrible wild animals would be out.

No worries! You don't have to worry about the punctuation, if you'd like I can manually put it in myself when I update your profile if that would save you some time.

Sounds good ^^

Oh, and does getting the disadvantage of losing your abilities at midnight/midday for an hour sound aight? (Your other disadvantage also won't trigger during this time so I suppose that's a bit helpful lol)

(No worries! Don't feel pressured to reply within the day ^^ Hope it was fun haha)

You continue walking along the path unbothered, enjoying the peace. From time to time, you hear a faint rustle or other small sound in the grasses beside you, but it doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary, perhaps just a field mouse or small creature scurrying by. Time seems to slip by as you walk, but soon enough, you can no longer ignore the gradually growing ache in your feet, a dull burn that threatens to creep up to your already tired legs. You hadn't accounted for it earlier, but it's clear that you'll have to stop walking sometime soon if you want to avoid getting blisters. You don't see any sign of the next town on the horizon, unfortunately (or maybe not, knowing you), though it could just be a little farther on.

As you're contemplating this issue, you hear a sharp snick from behind you, like the sound of scissors cutting through stiff cloth.

She quickly turns around to confront whatevers there. She readies herself to fight since she knew she couldnt run. "Who's out there?" She yelled into the darkness, trying to find who or what made that noise.

(Edited to fit with the correct starting point this time hopefully aaa)

~~~
By the time you've finished packing for your journey and are prepared to leave Hanne, a light rain has begun to fall, pattering on the roof of the inn, the stables, and the streets outside. Charlie is long gone, having already left by the time you arrived back at the inn, not willing to waste any time the moment Liyah had failed to return home.The remaining Merryfields and most of the villagers have hurried back to their houses to wait out the bad weather. There's no way of telling whether it'll eventually fizzle out or grow into a full-blown thunderstorm, but the rain doesn't show any signs of either falling heavier or subsiding any time soon, which is...well, it could be both good or bad. Fortunately, the rain doesn't bother you too much, though it could hinder your visibility.
Less than an hour ago, you'd returned to the inn to warn the others of the impending rainstorm, and found it in uproar. A group of traders, one of the first of the season, had stopped by the town to stock up on supplies and trade, and only by the time they'd finally left had anyone realized Liyah Merryfield was missing. The moment you'd poked your head in to find the source of the commotion, you'd been met with a furious Mr. Merryfield and his frantic wife, the former of whom had all but roared at you, demanding that you find and return Liyah this instant and how dare you go gallivanting around when his daughter, your one responsibility was missing and he'd given you the benefit of the doubt, tolerating you hanging around his inn this whole time and that he'd better not see your face again unless you were bringing Liyah back with you and---
At that point, Mrs. Merryfield had fortunately cut him off, explaining that neither of them could afford to leave to join the search due to needing to run the inn, but the message to you was clear. Really, maybe it was your fault. After all, you were supposed to have been keeping track of her, but what were you supposed to do when she'd completely left without warning? In any case, what you needed to do would have been obvious even without Mr. Merryfield bellowing at the top of his lungs, and, half an hour later, here you stand. There's no telling where Liyah could be by now, especially what with how long it'd taken for anyone to realize she was gone (not even counting the time Mr. Merryfield had spent yelling), and, with the rain quickly washing away any clue, any footprint that could give you or Charlie a lead, it could be impossible to find her.
Find and return her, dead or alive, the missing posters already being hung up in town say.
You certainly hope it'll be the second one.
You whip around, preparing to fight, but the road behind you is empty. There's no sign of who or what could've made that noise, and your shout fades away into the night with no response. Perhaps it was caused by another small animal, or maybe you even imagined it? You're still not sure exactly what the sound was, but as you prepare to turn back around, your eye catches on a disparity in the moonlight--the field to the left of you (as you face backwards) has a strange, narrow path cutting through the grass at an angle. You don't remember if it'd been there before and you'd just not noticed it earlier, but it's eerie nonetheless, especially what with the noise you'd just heard.
You're suddenly reminded of the stories and warnings you've heard on countless occasions from passerby, more experienced travelers, in Perell--about roads that mysteriously twist and turn and lead one astray, or mischievous beings who are known to mess with travelers. Surely that's not the case now, though?
It's quite possible it was there before and I was so busy thinking I just didn't notice it earlier. And those stories and just that, stories. But the eerie feeling coming from it. . . She decided to take a chance though. So she turned towards the path and started walking on it.
Nakoa lets the rain fall for a few moments, taking in the eerie stillness after the rush of the last hour. The fresh, musky scent that comes with rain on earth is briefly unsettling but it is welcome. The current weather is much better than the heat of summer where the temperature is not always agreeable to their preferred style of clothing.
It notes which direction Charlie had gone. Then it takes a deep breath, trying to smell where Liyah Merrifield has gone. If it picks up her scent, it follows it. It knows the smell of people during a heavy rain doesn't last long.
If it can't pick up anything that way, it will resolutely go the way that Charlie didn't take. It decides that since he is going one way, it should go the other to cover more ground. The sooner Liyah is brought back, the better. Brushing the rain off its shoulders and head, it starts at its loping pace. It doesn't know how much she stayed on the path, but it hopes she did this time. Or perhaps she had just gone off to a look out or something. That would make the search for her much easier. At the same time, it dismisses the idea, knowing that her unpredictable departure meant she would probably continue in that strain until she tired of it.
(Did it! How the backstory thing fit in with what Ravyne is really like?)
Basic
Name
Falcon 'Hothead' / 'Fantam' Spiritflame
Gender/Pronouns
Male, He/Him
Age
20
General Appearance
Falcon is of average-height, with long ginger hair he has never gotten round to dealing with properly and so always ends up stuffing into a pony-tail. He spends most of his time with an exasperated look on his face, like it's his personal mission to get irritated at every little issue.
His right shoulder is shrouded in a depiction of a winged ram in what appears to be an array of blue dyes, but it's no tattoo. He was born with the markings, which shimmer and move as if alive when he is experiencing emotional turmoil. He doesn't know what they mean, but he feels safer pulling his collar high around his neck to keep them hidden when he's around others.
Falcon doesn't have a reflection, and so has never seen his own face before. So he's not actually sure what his true features look like, or how well his transfiguration ability works.
Starting Location
Ravyne
Personality
Easily irritated, even the fact he has a flying ram marking on his shoulder is a cause for annoyance, since he would never endure flight himself. He only ever shows a kind face if he thinks there's something he can get out of it. Otherwise, he keeps mostly to himself. Those who know Falcon often remark that he doesn't keep friends, just people who are useful to him from time to time.
Out of everything, a plan succeeding or having a chance to prove himself right are Falcon's most enjoyable moments. He won't shy from lending a helping hand where needed provided the debt is repaid later on.
Overall, Falcon is a driven individual with a lifetimes worth of willpower to get his way. He's not one to let others get him down, or hamper him in pursuit of his goals.
Backstory
Falcon never knew his parents - so far as he is aware, he was abandoned and left orphaned younger than he can remember on the streets of Ravyne. He was always told he must have been left by one of its many visitors - maybe a harassed travelling botanist or artist who had no time to look after a bothersome child - since he doesn't look local. Just one of the many reasons he never developed an overly strong bond to the place of his childhood.
Taken into a children's home amongst dozens of others, he grew up as an outsider because his emotional outbursts which revealed his non-human, 'Fantastical' traits. The other children side-lined and bullied him, giving him his nickname of 'Fantam' - or Fantastical phantom, for his involuntary disappearing acts and appearance changing. Meanwhile he, for the most part, was put up with until he was old enough to go on alone.
The next few years were haphazard ones - spent getting into and out of trouble by the skin of his teeth, forming temporary alliances with others before swiftly making enemies of them. He never stayed in one place for long, always roaming around different hidey-holes and bases he had found in the abandoned corners of Ravyne where nobody would come looking. Having recently stirred up a lot more trouble than his usual standard, Falcon has just emerged from a period of laying low waiting for the dust to settle. Today comes the inevitable day where it's finally time for him to move on from the place of his childhood and find a new crowd who won't see him coming.
Likes
- Cinnamon buns; really most foods with tasty spices and seasonings, anything but the disgusting gruel he had to eat as a child
- Getting one over on others; pulling off elaborate plans and tricks is the most satisfying thing
- Reading; there's nothing better than curling up next to a crackling hearth with a book, though sometimes he can get a bit carried away. He often reads far longer than he should until he can't see straight. After he gets over himself and stops blaming the book he'll angrily remark: "I read that 5 times how did I miss it? Can I even read???"
- Scouting out new areas; getting to know the unknown is essential to ensure you know all the escape routes, hidey-holes and potential opportunities
Dislikes
- Most things to some degree, once he's decided they aren't worth his time
- Water; he never learnt to swim and hates getting caught in the rain
- Large reptiles; maybe he had a run-in with one in a past life? Whatever the reason, he just can't stand the twisting Deja-vu feeling they give him
- The feeling that someone knows something he doesn't; it either sets his insatiable curiosity off, or his sense of a looming, unknown threat
Fears
Heights. Falcon has been an acrophobic for as long as he dares remember - which isn't often. He doesn't like to think about his fear, and would never admit it to others.
Ambitions/Dreams
Falcon never felt any desire to do anything for others, since as soon as he were to let his guard down and they realised he was a Fantastical being they would shun him all the same. Instead, he is driven to prove to himself if no-one else that he's better than them.
Though he feels torn and foolish about keeping a flicker of hope to this day, he still does dream of finding his parents again, if they're out there. Maybe then he could understand why he is the way he is. But this goal is secondary - in a way, he's equally hopeful as he is fearful of the consequences of finding them.
Biggest Flaw
In pursuit of his own goals Falcon isn't averse to using lies to secure the aid of others, often more than is necessary. As such, he has burnt a lot of bridges, and few who know him for long enough trust him at his word.
Other
Falcon, to the best of his knowledge, has always returned borrowed wheelbarrows on time.
Consider it punctuated. No worries all tidied up.
I have however added a couple of other changes just to make your life harder lol. Hope it's not too much trouble for you updating my profile.
Sure. I added that in as well. Yeah, I suppose so - so if Falcon needs to have a panic attack he'll make sure to keep it to the allocated hours lmao.
