(Yayy it's still Friday for me lmao)

~~~
When you awake, you the first thing you notice is the sound of rain pounding on your rooftop. And, judging by the volume, it's nothing near a drizzle, either. Despite this, though, it's not the rain that woke you, but rather the ringing of the town bell. There's only one thing such a bell can mean--that traders have arrived.
It's been a longer period than usual since the last traders arrived, and most in Hanne are no doubt more than looking forward to doing outside business. Before long, you know from experience, the quiet morning will be disrupted by chatter and bustle, though you're not sure how exactly it's going to work in this weather. Despite trading day being a huge, townwide event, you've never really had the time or freedom to experience or even see much of it for yourself, instead often watching from far away or hearing about it long after.
But today, you realize, things are different. Without an annoying family member to watch over, you might, for the first time, be able to properly partake in the excitement, maybe even swap a favor for a trader's wares if you're lucky. If your plan is to experience what the world has to offer, the town's biggest event seems like it would at least be a start.
I sit on the windowsill and feel the cold, slick surface of the glass pressing against my side, and watch as the rain comes down in sheets. I wait for a big fat droplet on the window to make its descent as I tend to the tedious task of brushing and braiding all this hair. The steel dagger looks quite enticing after combing out the hundreth tangle, but the first and last time I cut my hair by myself it turned out horrid. I've already grown attached to this hairstyle and length anyway.
With all the practical belongings I have stashed into a satchel and everything else taken care of, I dash out the door. Only for me to halt when I splash upon a puddle and soak my leg. How did I forget that it was raining in the span of two seconds?
"Stupid, stupid, stupid idiot..."
I heave out a sigh and frown at my severe lack of umbrella or rain gear. Well, it's certainly not the most ideal start, but...Ah, to hell with it. I try to shield the leather satchel and its contents with my body and run (probably not the best idea with slippery roads and all) towards the center of town/wherever it mainly takes place. I'm not about to wait for hours doing nothing until the weather clears.
(LMAO that sounds hilariously amazing)
She narrows her eyes at you, and you realize that she's still holding a very sharp sword, and that you are, well, significantly not holding a sword. Fortunately, she doesn't decapitate you like she'd done with the grass, and just sheathes her sword instead. "Let's just say that traveling by horseback is much faster and less tiring than walking, and that there are things that are...more favorably done at night." That doesn't exactly answer your question, either, but she swings herself back on her horse as if it has, quickly shooting a glance behind her. "On that note, I should be going. I don't suppose you'd want a ride, then? Honestly, it's hard to say whether or not you'll come across any more creepy paths wherever you're headed."
(it actually turned into the revelation that it was going to be two feet tall and he didn't know that and I was like "I told you centimeters were like half the size of inches" and he was looking for a bigger body pillow because he thought the one he had would be too small but it would've been wayyyy too big)
That's definitely the best answer I'm getting, huh? "Well, I wouldn't mind a ride. To be fair, I'm not even sure where I'm headed so I could come with you. I don't think I want to take the chance with the weird paths again." She forced a laugh, thinking about how goo it'd be to have an ally who can use a sword well. At least I won't die immediately.
(Lmao yea "yeah gonna see the world and do things woohoo!" instantly gets stuck in bed for the next five days and by the time he gets better someone else has a child)
(And nope, it's perfect :D)
(Best image I could find lmao, imagine it's more open and less tables)
~~~

By the time you follow the sound of the bell to the center of town, you've stepped in about five more puddles and are thoroughly soaked (even after having valiantly managed not to slip). You're not sure even the contents of your satchel have avoided a shower. But nobody pays attention to your current state--everyone's too busy rushing around trying to find a dry spot. The vendors, who usually sell their wares in the open square, are fighting for a space under an overhang or in the shade of a tree, a task that's made even more difficult than the normal villagers like you who are also trying their best to get out of the rain. Though a smart few have brought an umbrella or at the very least rain-equipped clothing, most of the people share one braincell are soon to be just as soaked as you if they don't find shelter soon. Fortunately, some people are beginning to set up awnings that should allow for more space to huddle and set out goods.
It seems that you've arrived just in time--as you make your way to the square, the crowd parts as the first trader wagons appear at the other end of the clearing. The commotion turns from anxiety to excitement, people shouting cheers and greetings as the traders dismount from their wagons and meet the crowd, shaking hands and quickly ushering them to off to a nice, dry inn where they can keep their horses and unload their goods while the crafters finish setting up their stalls. You hear a few excited murmurs around you--news already spreading about what new goods have been brought, that the next wagons are due to arrive within the hour. In a few minutes, trading day will be in full swing, not only here in the town center but no doubt soon throughout most of Hanne. As the day goes on, you know as much, traders will continue to arrive and more stalls will be erected, spreading out through the streets. Despite the rain, people have made do, and it seems today will go as smoothly as ever.

(Unfortunately, this is not your house)

~~~
The first thing you notice when you wake up is not that you're sore from sleeping on the ground, which you're rather used to by now, but that you're...damp?
It seems that the abandoned shack you'd chosen as a sleeping spot last night had been a poor decision, as, judging by the puddles that have pooled in several places on the sagging floor, the roof was not quite waterproof. It hadn't been raining when you'd settled in last night, but perhaps you should've known better--or maybe you'd just overestimated the quality of the construction.
At least it sounds like it's not raining anymore, though the roof is still dripping in a few spots. In fact, the sunlight spilling through cracks in the walls and the open doors is annoyingly bright. And, fortunately, your little hiding spot near the town's outskirts seems to have avoided discovery another day. Although waking up in a puddle probably isn't considered a good omen, it otherwise seems like a fine day to set off without too many complications.
And, if nothing else, it'd at least be nice to find at least find a place where the roof doesn't leak.
(Feh, who needs a house when you can have a puddle xD
Apologies for taking my time but you know what I'm like. Hopefully the text-splurge makes up for it.)
Falcon groans as he wearily pushes himself up into a sitting position, at the same time beginning his day with the thought: What a great start this is. He glares at the pools for a moment, as if the intensity of his gaze will do him a favour and boil them away. Astonishingly, nothing happens.
Yes, he should have known better, he scolds himself. But on the fair side, last night wasn't exactly a great time for perusing his usual hideout options. He turns over his gashed hands, knowing his clothes are also a little worse for wear after yesterday's stunt and that the ache from his five-star accommodations isn't the sole reason for him feeling so beaten-up. What a brash and stupid thing to do... still, I got away at least.
The thought was hollow. He knows he's not out of the woods yet - that they'll be after him soon enough, and camping out in an abandoned hut for a night isn't going to change that. He had already come to the conclusion when he stumbled into this temporary sanctuary in the dark, but his days in Ravyne are over.
He pats down his rumpled, slept-in clothing in an attempt to smooth the damp garments down. The fact that the drizzle has stopped is no consolation as he blinks blearily at the all-too-bright, all-too-wet world outside the yawning entryway. The reprimand in his head for leaving the door open is muted by the fact he hasn't, in fact, been dragged off in the night.
That in mind, he decides this hovel will remain 'home' a few minutes longer. The damp is aggravating - he hopes not to a distracting degree - but he's soaked to the bone already. That, and being spotted outside is a... less than appealing prospect. Especially when doing his morning ritual. Every morning, he tests his 'abilities'. Makes sure they're still there, to reassure himself and to practise in the hopes of improving his control over them. He's done it ever since the first time they vanished on him.
Ghosting is a simpler one to start with. He holds his hands in front of his face and attempts to turn invisible, absorbing the process in which he does so and committing it to memory. Whether it's his whole body, or optional parts of him. How he goes about initiating the change. How long exactly he can make it last. Whether it tires him with successive use or gets stronger over time.
Next, transfiguration. The same observations, but this time having tugged a strand of his rust-red hair in front of his face and trying to change it to black. While perhaps a little ambitious already, if he can make a perceptible difference there he'll also try to shift to make his hair shorter at the same time and see if he can hold both at the same time.
(gonna bonk you now, as i are arrival :D)
Basic
Name
Svellrosa ("Rose")
Gender/Pronouns
Female
Age
26
General Appearance
Quite tall for being... almost human-like, but her main key feature is being attuned physically and magically to the frost and thorns. Her attunement is to the point that bits of ice act almost like their own entity on her, forming an iron-hard mask of pure ice on the left side of her face. Bits of thorns also sprout from her attire, being a slight annoyance.
Her hair--when not frozen, lmao--is silky, long, and silver with tips of a blood red. Odd. Despite being a mage of sorts, she is physically built well, not overly muscular but just right.
Starting Location
Catha
Personality
Outside of combat, she can be incredibly wholesome and quite motherly, but in combat... she becomes a sadistic menace. Quite literally abusing the ability to freeze and inflict damage over time effects, she shows zero mercy in battle.
Backstory
(I'll do this later, I'm small brain atm >->)
Likes
>She has a bit of a sweet tooth, and chocolate seems to lift her spirits quite a bit.
>Svellrosa, as true to her name, loves the winter and floral items.
>As long as she can assist emotionally, she becomes content.
Dislikes
>Exploitation of others. Kind of ironic, due to her having potency with the Weakness Exploit gimmicks.
>She doesn't take too well with annoyance.
>the sun is a deadly laser
Fears
Isolation.
Ambitions/Dreams
(good question, can I do this later-)
Biggest Flaw
During her Athorned state, which activates immediately when combat occurs, she may even lash out to allies if she isn't careful, or at herself. Hmm...
Other
(-*casually gives her Snow Warning from Pokemon (joking)*-)
~
Attributes
(See Skills post. You have 10 points to allocate however you'd like. These stack with the levels you automatically gain from your choice of starting location, so don't include those)
Strength - 0
Intelligence - 6
Constitution - 0
Dexterity - 0
Agility - 2
Observation - 0
Charisma - 2
~
Traits
So I have a few ideas, you can deny any of them;
During a snow-based weather condition, Svellrosa gains a boost to evasion and movement speed.
On specific attacks against specific foes, critical hit chance is increased by a considerable amount.
Enhancement
- Vision -
Abilities
- Hover
- Phasing
Neutral Traits
- Cold to the touch
Disadvantages
- Will burn under direct sunlight
(also question, is the True Name disadvantage based off of Eragon's true name system? If so, YOOOOOOOO NIIICE)
Hi! I love your character, but there are a few things:
1. Make sure to read the rules a second time!
2. I'm not really sure what you mean by some of the stuff you mentioned? e.g. "damage over time effects", "boost to evasion", "critical hit chance", etc. I do have rolls for skill checks, but I don't really have a complex enough battle system for such stats to exist (after all this is more of an adventure/exploration story game rather than a battle-based one lol). I could change them to less specific things like "can move quickly in snow", etc. if that would work?
3. You also mention things like her being a mage and having ice/thorn related abilities, which don't quite clock with the lore/character guidelines. I'm willing to let them slide or change them slightly to fit, but I'd need you to explain some stuff like the Athorned and Weakness Exploit things you referenced and what exactly the extent of her abilities are. I'm a bit hesitant to allow more than the two abilities I allowed everyone else (since as aforementioned, not a battle focused RPG), but I could bend them if you want her to be a bit more of a combat-heavy character? I'd just have to make sure she doesn't end up overpowered lol
4. I would prefer a basic ambition to figure out what you're going to start out doing, though it can probably wait until I give you the introduction post. If you want, it could be something simple like "wants to leave the house" (idk lol) and you can add on later if you come up with it.
(I'm quite looking forward to seeing her backstory and how/what she's been doing around town since she's very unique lol)
Let me know your thoughts, I'll see if I can work something out ^^"
(Ah sadly the True Name thing isn't based on Eragon, but rather just general irl superstition stuff lol
Also the sun is a deadly laser lmaoo)
1. aeugh, I didn't mean to make a Mary Sue if I did, I apologize ;-;
2. "Boost to evasion", generally, just during the snow bits she exploits the potential blinding effect a snowstorm can offer. "Critical hit chance", generally, just a bit lucky with landing a very powerful hit or hitting a weaker bit of it, which also explains "Weakness Exploit". The alternative with the snow movement would work better in terms of balance, I 'unno, either works for me.
3. aeugh v2, I can make a non-mage character if she conflicts too much with the lore. "Weakness Exploit" was explained a bit at 2, and "Athorned" is just when she goes big sadistic battle mode, it's nothing special lmao. I understand your concerns with being OP, I share them as well, I absolutely despise OP-ness lol. (Even when I try to make an OP character, I try balancing them out kekw)
4. ait neat :D
(Awe man, I was really hoping it was Eragon, it's almost exactly how you worded it pfft
and in her original sheet of where I made her for, she gains debuffs in the sun, so it literally is a deadly laser to her lmaoooo)
