You're not sure what you expected to see. An animal of some sort, perhaps, or maybe even a music box if someone had been playing a prank? But you see absolutely nothing but leaves and branches in every direction, plus a fantastic view of the park.
Selena kept reading the book. "I should check this lighthouse out when I read the rest of the books. It might have some clues, " Selena thought.
From what you can tell, the book seems to be set up in a format in which it tells the story of an incident, and the proceeds to give several of the possible explanations and theories for it.
Do you continue skimming or read the table of contents?

"intresting, must have jumped out or something" Evan thought to himself. He jumped down and brushed off the leaves from his sweater. He then heard his stomach growl. "Must be around lunch" he thought. Evan grabbed his stool and ran it back to his house. He really wanted some soup for lunch (he loves soup) so he then set off to find a soup store/restaurant.
You don't see angels, but you do see clouds and the sun, as expected. It's almost disappointing.
Everyone outside is seemingly on their way to their various jobs and activities as usual, the constant bustle almost a guarantee that no one will look twice at anyone else unless they want something. Like a newspaper, for instance. On the side of the street, you find what you're looking for - a newspaper boy waving his papers in the air as people rush by, proclaiming the headlines. "Learn all about Eski's latest invention! Or, if you'd prefer, read about the recent murder at the Lighthouse!"
"Um, excuse me," I say to the boy waving the paper. "How much for a paper?" Yesterday, er rather today, maybe... I don't know anymore!
Either way, the last time I read the newspaper on this day, I read the funnies, so that probably could use that as a backup if I don't believe the date.
"Yeah, it's not exactly common knowledge unless you're actively practicing it. I'm sure we could find some guides at the library..." she adds brightly. "You... you haven't happened to have been banned from the library, have you?"
"No, not yet," I shrug. "Although my kind is generally..... ah.... less than worshipped around here." I laugh nervously, tapping my horns in emphasis. "Nothing I don't deal with on a daily basis. I'm comfortable going just about anywhere, as long as you don't mind a couple sideways glances."

There aren't really any restaurants in the city, though you're sure the store you went to to buy cereal from earlier has some soup for sale as well.

(By the way you basically have infinite money unless you try to buy something ridiculously expensive, because buying things isn't part of the game and it would keep resetting anyways xD)
(Plus there technically is a way to make infinite money but ehhh you might figure that out later)
"Only 2 coppers, Mx!" the boy, who appears to have some trace of halfling blood, says cheerfully. "Fresh off the press." He stares curiously at you for a second and adds, "Interesting eyes you got there."
(cue me looking up gender neutral formal titles lol)

Evan heads to the store. When he gets there, he grabs some crackers (to put in the soup) and heads to the front counter. "Hey, back again" Evan says to the store clerk, "do you have any tomato soup?"

(I've known about Mx. for quite a while, but I'm genderfluid myself, so :P)
I pay the two coppers. "Thank you very much. I usually get teased about them. No clue how I got them, but I try to take it in stride." I glanced at the date on the newspaper. "Anyhow, is your job normally to sell the papers or is this a part-time job before college?"
(Not meaning to be offensive. I'm sorry if it comes off that way, Lark. Edited so that it is a bit softer on wording.)

"Well, that's fine with me," she says, "Besides, being worshipped would also be really weird." She opens the door again. "I hope you know the way? I'm not really familiar with this place, myself."
