I was thinking it might be interesting to have basically a second set of leaderboards that allows you to compete for last year's exclusives. When you start the boards you're automatically working towards the new year's exclusives but you would have an option to go for the alternate board instead.

So say you want to try for a 3vis ferrikki from last year. You go to the leaderboard page for ferrikki and toggle it to the alternate board. This won't affect any other boards you're on unless you do the same thing but at this point any points you had for the ferrikki gets wiped and you start anew for only this board. You can't compete for both. For people doing nurture boards, they'd have to go through and toggle which ever ones they want to compete for last years or to choose to stay with the current. No doing both in the same round.

I loooove this idea~ I imagine when themes are picked, sometimes different color styles are chosen so that people with different interests get opportunities for themes that fit their preferences. I know for some of us, that unfortunately means that some fests are full of brewing/board pets that aren't to their liking. That makes it far less exciting to do the boards. However, with the opportunity to also choose the previous year's board pet, we increase the likelihood of an appealing board egg, as well as giving people an opportunity to go after something maybe they were too new or busy to try for the previous year!

Hmm! This might be a good idea for people who aren't supercompetitive also!!!

I would love this because sometimes I really only want the aged pets, and not the new, but if I do leaderboards, I have no choice but to get the new ones (so I tend to not do leaderboards)

It also might help people who want to get leaderboard pouches and stuff like that, which would be good? Since there would be two boards and not everybody running a certain team would be crammed onto the same board?

This would be amazing! Agreed that there are times where I would prefer to get the prior year exclusives. Also, it somewhat fixes the issue of a growing player base and only having so many pet-winning slots every fest. It doubles the number of people who can win any of the board prizes, but also makes it hard to abuse, as you have to choose which year's prize to go for and will lose any progress on the other side if you choose to switch.

Good idea Sav, i like this idea too. This way it would allow more people to place on leaderboards as our player base grows

This is a good idea for yet another reason: Two boards for every species would increase newer players' chances of actually winning a pet.
