Yes, PTSD can occur after inflicted events on others too. There's been reports of it occuring in individuals that have been convicted of murder, oddly enough. The only real "criteria" for it is the occurance of a traumatic event that someone gets mentally "hung up on" to the point it causes regular mental distress.
So let's say for example someone accidentally caused the death of someone else and that event continued to haunt them. I don't personally see someone like that able to fight without being reminded of what they did, but maybe if they saw it as the only option in their situation they'd be able to power through it. Depends on the character, I'd say from a writing perspective. Those mental reminders would be powerful and could affect someone in a lot of ways, but when it comes to PTSD, the main theme is avoidance. You don't want to reexperience what you've been through once and then again and again in your head/nightmares.

I see. Thanks for the info! It really helps me understand more about PTSD and how it works! I'm sure all this will help write a character with PTSD that is actually good and compelling instead of being stereotypical! Thanks again!
