-- Peru --

Mother's in peru are the center of family life. The mother is generally the head of the house. It is up to her to keep the family together. In peru Mother's Day is "Dia de la Madre" which is celebrated May 10th (same as us!).

-- Vietnam --

A mother's family role in Vietnam is highly honored. Their power in Vietnamese society comes from mother's once often role is positions of power. The impact of these women left a lasting impression and a long time honor of women and mothers to come.

-- Cambodia --

Mother's in Cambodia are (once again) the center of the family. Mothers in Cambodia control the money in the family, which is different then in some cultures. They are advisors for their husbands, with many times having the final say is many things.

-- Japan --

In Japan mother's have a much more submissive role in the traditional sense. They are expected to care for the children, they usually don't work much - if only part time jobs. They are expected to be strict and raise the children. A mother-child relationship in Japan is different as well, they will for example let a child cry and then only comfort then once they are done crying to push them to be more independent.

-- France --

In France mother's are very authoritative, they create a strict parenting style and lay the hand down on the house rules. French mother's also let their children sleep through the night, not even stopping them from crying. Compared to American mothers' French Mother's have the kids structure themselves around her schedule, different from American where parents find themselves at many children events.

-- Inuit --

One main difference from Inuit mother's to any other parents is the rule of: Never ever yell at your children. Inuit parents do their best to never show anger towards their children, only a controlled anger that will not affected the child physiological. This is different from many other countries and something I think every parents should strive to do.

I chose to do mothers from Indonesia. It's a tough climate and most people there aren't doing too well financially. It amazes me how hard the mothers there work. I chose a Lighira because they feel powerful just like mothers.

I'm only doing one this week, sadly.I'd love to do 3 but I don't have the time with End Of Course Exams and stuff this week.So i'll attempt to put my all into this one.

State Of Palestine
I chose Palestine because it's a country where gender equality is still being built up and I myself can't imagine being a mother and not having a say in what happens to me or my children. It just amazes me how many of these mothers continue to strive, even single mothers who have it even rougher than those with husbands. But they still try to provide the best future they can for their children.

I attempted the best I could to try and incorporate some of the beautiful greens of the land into the design because apparently green is a motherly color? The butterfly scarf is the whole reason I chose puffadore to represent them because a good portion of the mother's in Palestine are Muslim and I think this is the closest i'll get to a hijab on any sylestie

Region Of Choice: The United States of America

American mothers are nurturing and caring while still being stern and strict. They allow their children more freedom in what they do generally, giving their sons and daughters time to be children and make some mistakes. American mothers are also hard workers who inspire their children to reach towards the stars.
