The library seemed to be near the back end of the city, close to the base of the hill the palace sat on.
It was a large, ornately decorated marble building with colorful banners hanging over engraved pillars.

Walking through the wooden doors, you greeted by large, imposing bookcases surrounding a large tree through the floor of the building and twisting spiral staircases, making the place quite the labyrinth of info indeed.

Near the front of the library, a noble woman dressed in traditional Amati attire is seated at a desk labelled with the word 'librarian', combing long nails through her immaculate red hair as she reads over an index with a cup of hot tea. She looks up at you as you enter for just the briefest of moments before returning to her work.

Sven, 160 HP, Vathia Kingdom (Library)

I looked around the warmly lit space, impressed with the amount of books here. If you asked me to describe it I'd have to go with both intimidating and vast, while also being inviting and cozy. How they managed to pull that off I don't know--

Unfortunately, briefly looking around for any signs yields me no results. Well damn, I'm not finding crap at this rate. I thought to myself.

Sensibly, I approach the red haired woman to ask for directions, walking around a few empty tables. Of course, I'm wary of her (as I am with all people now-a-days) but I didn't have many options.

I adjusted the hood over my face and licked my lips before clearing my throat at the front of her cluttered desk. Aw damn she looks super busy-- best get this over with quick.

"Excuse me Miss, would you happen to have a section on inhuman creatures here? ...um, specifically the undead?"

The librarian looks up suddenly at the sound of Sven's voice, her earrings jingling a bit. She motions for him to wait a moment as she sticks a tab in her book, closing it and setting it aside.
"The undead? I'm afraid we don't have too many of those laying around here still.. They always seem to have a way of going missing on me..If they're back in though, they should be towards the back left wall, just off the magical study section. You can't miss it."
She points a claw towards the back of the library.

Sven, 160HP, Vathia Kingdom (Library)

"Oh, okay, thank you very much." I replied, dipping my head briefly in acknowledgement before heading off in the direction she indicated.

Interesting that she'd mentioned them disappearing though. Wonder why....huh, I wonder how many undead like me are actually walking around... ?

I felt a little guilty aswell though, my plan had included stealing one of the books for reference during my travels, but if I did find something truly insightful well... I'd attempt to steal it anyway-- guilt be damned.

When I reach the back wall I glance over the books until I find the bookcase labeled in small print "Magical Study". Then I spend quite a bit of time skimming over book spines on the neighboring shelves, my head tilted sideways so I can read them. My fingers itch to pick a few up, books about magical plants and beasts that entice the part of me that craves new knowledge and facisnating trivia.

In the past I would have. I would have spent quite a bit of time in a place like this if I had grown up near a library so grand... but now I didn't have that luxury-- not really. Something ugly and dark twisted in my stomach, and I internally scolded myself. Stop your pity party, focus, plenty of time to cry about life and hate yourself later.

The librarian here seemed nice enough, perhaps if I passed through again I could stop by and read a little. Yes! There! Think positive thoughts Sven!

Huh. I wonder if I'll never age this way...

Its another minute of silent concentration before I stumble across a section of books that seems promising, and I reach to pull one off the shelf. A book from the top-left of the section, and towards the middle.

There seemed to be a woman at the end of the library section who had the same idea and was currently tucking books away into a leather knapsack, just out of view of the rest of the library. She froze on the sight of Sven and quickly pulled her hood over her face. As she turned to slip away, an ornate sword sheathed on her side, highly resembling the missing, ceremonial palace sword was visible for a just a moment.

The two books came easily off the shelf, considering the majority of it had already been picked clean by the rushing thief. Thankfully for Sven, one of the books near the top seemed quite valuable as far as information despite its visible age. It seemed to be a written account on a former Vathia king by the name of A'Vier.
The other seemed to be a more specific guide on the undead and necromancy.

(20 and 19 on these book rolls respectively.. wtf..)

Sven, 160 HP, Vathia Kingdom (Library)

Sven called out loudly "Thief! The one with the white hair!" He yelled, pointing at the leaving girl. He grips the book on necromancy harder. He didn't know exactly what the fancy looking sword on her hip was, but he knew an opportunity when he saw it.

In the back of his mind he hopes if the librarian is distracted by the thief, he can quickly stuff the book into his bag and be free of suspicion because he alerted about the other thief.

Crap he felt awful about this plan, it was so low. Ah Christ, screw it! He told himself, and whatever god watching right now that he was just taking it as payment for calling the girl out okay? See? They were even here--

Christ, who was he fooling?

The thief growled lowly and pulled Sven against a bookcase, just out of the sight of the librarian. She had a gloved hand pressed over Sven's mouth to silence him before fishing out a coin with the royal emblem from her pocket. She pressed it forcibly into his palm, keeping her voice low as she spoke, a particular regal formality present in her voice.

"You're going to blow my cover. I intend to return these books here, but for now. I need all the information I can get." She had noticed the book crammed in his bag and pinched the bridge of her nose, brushing some of her white hair from her face.
"Come to Great Hill in two days. And make sure you bring that book. I'll tell you what I know. Don't show that emblem to anyone but me. Or you'll wind up even more dead."

She let him go and made her way up one of the spiral staircases and out a window as the librarian shouted after her, clearly irate and distracted by the cloaked thief's heist.

Sven, 160HP, Vathia Kingdom (Library)

Sven left as quickly as he could while he still could. Chest painfully tight and heart racing with panic and confusion as he just barely kept his wits about him. The round coin in his palm gripped tightly like he was afraid I'd disappear into the void if he let go.

What. The. Gods. Just. Happened.

Christ he was too small town for these royal dramas-- a dirty street rat in comparison. Great Hill. Great Hill. Great Hill, two days! Remember that! He repeated frantically in his mind. Remember that! Oh wait crap but what if she was planning to kill him there---?

What was his other option? Run? Fleeing from royal guard seemed like an even worse idea-- okay well he had two days to decide! Its cool-- don't panic. Calm the crap down now Sven!

Right. He could think about it in the morning.

(Insomnia sucks, so sorry for my night owlism. I'm going to just get this up now before I forget and/or just pass out later. Won't be around too much later today because of class, errands, and hw I want to grind away at.

@Opal, feel free to stick your noble in here whenever. The guards should have called for some knights to come kill this monster earlier.
Other than that, juuust going to slide everyone minus Sven together and get introductions out of the way. ;>)

Damien | 70 HP | Kingdom of Vathia (City Gates)
"Just to gather some resources. You're welcome to join us."

Damien gave Kandir and Aaron a smile and made his way out to the city gates, only to be stopped short by the sight of a large.. beast laying dying on the grass. There seemed to be another beast beside it and a young woman with a bow in hand.
Odd.

"You don't often see such monsters this far out into civilization. Did that thing follow you all the way here?"

Armand | 60 HP | Kingdom of Vathia (City Gates)
Armand had noticed that the stranger lizard beast had followed the group without even so much of a word of protest from Damien, but remained quiet, keeping his hand on his sword as he warily scanned over the ranger and the Setzial in front of the prince.

Wren | 60/60 HP | Gates or Something

Wren frowned at the beast, grumbling something about a lack of respect, and stabbed it an extra time with his sword to make it properly dead.
"Oh," he said, finally looking up and noticing the guards and the person with wings who looked like some kind of noble he should probably recognize, "Uh, I followed it, actually. It's not a sacred animal or something, is it? Because it was killing a bunch of wildlife, and then it jumped on me, so..." he shrugged nonchalantly.
