Looking at the young dwarf, she nods. "I believe so, yes, but...well something bad happened, Ragna and the dwarf I found had passed beyond. Take a look and see if this looks familiar?" She will unwrap the gold pendant just enough for the younger dwarf to look at it. While doing so she will look at Niala "If this is her father's it needs to be washed well because of the condition I found the body." then back to Ragna "Was this your father's?"

Ragna examined the pendant without touching it and her eyes welled with tears. "He always wore it... He said it belonged to my mother, and that on my eighteenth birthday, he was going to give it to me..." she informed you.

Malak considered her words with interest. His childhood tales had revolved around the deserts,
and mythical creatures that lived amongst the dunes. He had never heard stories of shadowy beings who kidnapped people.

Elysetta sighed and removed her hand from your shoulder, rubbing her right temple slightly. "It's been so long... But I think it was about a man named Kivar. He was a young pixie who had had the world in his hands. He was newly married, with a baby on the way. He was happy. However, he found himself trapped at one point. I can't recall the specifics, but I know he sacrificed a young boy to save himself. The universe cursed him, and when he returned home, his wife and unborn child lay dead. No plausible reason, they were just... Gone. He had become angry, very angry. He cursed the Gods and his silk wings tore apart right off of his back."
She paused to take a breath. "He killed his entire cove in one fell swoop. No one knew how he did it, but he did. The story held it that he had lost his soul that day. He held only darkness within him. he confined himself to a cave, and the darkness within him would manifest itself in the form of Veshka, which means 'shadows' in the Ancient Language. These Veshka answered to Kivar and no one else. He would instruct them to steal away with bad children, where he would murder them in cold blood and return their wings to their parents," she told you, and then shuddered slightly and averted her eyes. "It never scared me, though."

she sighs and looks to Niala "Might we be able to get this cleaned up then? I imagine a healer may want to clean it up as the condition of the body was, well I may want to speak with a healer as well just in case. I didn't touch the body, but it was not in good condition." she looks back at Ragna "Was your father at all ill when you left him at his bidding? And how far are you from eighteen? Because as far as I'm concerned, it is yours now."
Ruk frowned at you and wrote on his paper, I have fought many beasts. You need my help.
Julien frowned back. "I don't trust him not to ambush us or something," he muttered, glancing at the goblin, who seemed to be wondering why they weren't going quickly. "I guess we'll just have to be on our guard while we go to find the beast." He shuddered. "I really hope this isn't a trap."

When Elysetta removed her hand from his shoulder, Malak was shocked to find himself for a moment wishing that she would put it back. He stood up quickly and began to casually pace the room and she related the story she had heard as a child. It was an intriguing if not a horrifying tale, and wondered at the logic behind telling children such a gruesome story. Then again, he reminded himself, Elysetta had grown up under very different customs than he had.
"Well," he began, politely ignoring her obvious lie about the story never scaring her, "If the story has more truth behind it than you believed as a child, then we can assume that the shadowy beings which attacked us were these veshka. But are they in fact controlled by the figure in the story or by someone or something else entirely is the question..."

Niala nodded and grabbed the pendant carefully with a cloth. "I shall soak it in a strong basic substance. Enough to kill the bacteria, but not hurt the amulet," she reassured you, and then left to a back room of the tavern.
Rubbing at her eyes, Ragna took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. "No, he was perfectly fine until the big men came. And I'm only ten and a half. Papa was trying to get me away from our dwarven clan, but I don't know why," she told you.

Ruk gave you a small, almost sinister grin and tapped the hilt of his sword. He nodded once, slowly, letting you know that he could handle a trap.
