Elysetta stood immediately and stumbled back as well, her face red with... embarrassment? Anger? You couldn't tell. "I tried to help," she muttered, and then moved to the opposite corner of the room and sat down, her face in her hands.

Malak's ears were ringing, his heart still hammered in his chest, and he watched Elysetta curl in upon herself with a blank look. He was in shock, and it took a few moments for him to get himself back under control. Once he had, he wanted nothing more to run himself through with his own scimitar. He looked at Elysetta's hunched up form and felt like the biggest fool in the world.
"I am so sorry," he said, his voice full of pain and remorse as he walked back over and sat down in front of her,
"Please forgive me. I..." He heaved a sigh, gazing up at the ceiling. "I'm afraid I have to apologize for the way I was brought up again. You...caught me off guard, and in my culture...such closeness between a man and a woman, especially when they are unwed, is forbidden and cause for punishment." He paused, his throat tightening. These were not easy things for him to explain. "I am sorry."

Elysetta kept her head down and face covered throughout your apology, but then she roughly stood up and turned away from you. You could see her taking deep breaths. "That was not okay, Malak Khaleel," she murmured, and then faced you again. Her eyes were red with tears. "That was not okay! I am only trying to help and do what I believe is right! Perhaps I shouldn't, because that's what ended me in my mess in the first place. That was not okay..." she turned away again.

Malak's chest literally felt like a heavy stone had settled over it. He felt like he needed to just disappear from her life, for it seemed her only brought her more misery because of his mistakes and folly. The sight of the tears on his face broke his heart.
"No," he agreed, his voice barely above a whisper, "I was not okay. I applaud your ability to do what is right, to follow your heart." He heaved a great sigh. "I left home because I thought I believed differently than my tribe, but it seems that their teachings have run too deep. I will never be free of them...I will never be free of my father...everything he said was right back at the tree." Toward the end, Malak started rambling, almost forgetting about Elysetta's presence, lost in his own despair. He buried his head in his arms atop his upright knees and tried to block out his memories.

Elysetta had turned back away from you again, but she did soften considerably at your words. "If there is one thing you have taught me, Malak Khaleel, it is how to be free. I can't imagine what hell you went through to do that. I was a sin to be spoken of at my cove. My own family abandoned me because I chose love over duty. I thought, surely, I was going to die in that clearing. But out of nowhere comes this intelligent, foreign man with a bit more charm than a dead cockroach would have. He barely knows me, and he still faces nightmares to be able to grant me my freedom. Malak Khaleel, I want to help you to be free, too. But I can't do that if you won't let me," she whispered as she came over to you and sat down across from you with a gentle hand resting on your shoulder.

b) Leave them
She kneels down, looking at the Fairs, and deciding it better to press on, she leaves the Fairs on the ground. No need to be greedy, she wasn't looking for coins after all. She will then stand and continue her search for the missing dwarf.
The goblin's face broke out into a giant, fang-toothy smile. "Thank! Thank! There," he told you, pointing south. "Beast in goblin dead place."
Keeping his knife in hand and the goblin in sight, Julien nodded, moving gradually in the direction indicated. He couldn't decide if he wanted the goblin to come too so he could keep an eye on him, or if he'd rather the goblin stay behind. Either way, he couldn't help but feel his heart quickening as he considered the possibility of an ambush.
"Keep an eye on him," he whispered to Ruk. "Please. Just in case."

(So sorry about my absence x-x. Real life interfered /sigh/.)
You continue searching for the dwarf, and at one point, a rank stench hits you and you are left only momentarily incapacitated. You recover quickly, however.
What do you wish to do?
a) Follow the smell
b) Ignore it
c) Leave

Ruk frowned at you and wrote on his paper, I have fought many beasts. You need my help.

a) Follow the smell
"Oh my lands..." *covering her mouth and nose with a hand for a moment, she will then pull out an extra shirt and rip a strip from the shirt to tie about her face as a way to help block some of the smell, then she will head that direction.* "I really hope this isn't the dwarf, smells like whatever it is has died."
((no worries, real life happens.))
