~Crocheted Baby Griffi~

I have recently been inspired to pick up crocheting again, so I came up with a vision of making a crocheted baby griffi! Since griffis are the winter seasonal fabled, I hope this counts as "winter" themed.

To start, I dragged out my collection of yarn and found a couple colors that would work well together:

Over the course of the next couple of days, I made the various body parts. It was a slow start since I had to redo the head a couple of times before remembering how to crochet. >.<
Unfortunately, this week has been super busy, so I ended up doing most of the work on Wednesday (been basically crocheting since noon today >.<) I also ran out of the brown yarn so the hindlegs are a slightly different color. I thought the two yarns were about the same in thickness, but the new yarn seems to be a tad thicker which is why I ended up with unproportionally large hindlegs.

It turns out, crocheting was the easy part. The limbs seem almost too big for the body and the legs keep sticking out horizontally rather than vertically down :/ I eventually got them in place though!

"Final" result~
There's still a couple things I want to add (including the wing that's not seen rn), but the wings were a lot more complicated than anticipated and I should try to get a couple of hours of sleep in lol.

Actually the final result~
Added a santa hat, finished the other wing, and added the tail :)

^Sorry the sticky note fell off my wrist

Inspiration:
loosely followed this pattern for the body
I also read a handful of bird patterns for ideas on how to make the beak and wings, but ended up modifying parts of the above pattern so I wont link the other patterns here.
pattern for santa hat

All together, I'd say this project took ~20 hours due to a couple setbacks and the need to figure out how to modify the parts. I'm super happy with how he turned out though! :D

You definitely have some time yet, because we won't be starting reviews until we're all online again at the same time - at the earliest. And I'll be heading off to bed soon. lol

Due to our different time zones, you'll probably have at least most of today, if not longer, to finish.

Thank you! I'll try to have a finished product before going to bed and if I have more time tomorrow, I'll add some of the embellishments I had planned :)

So, I really was planning to do a lot more with this...and I missed the deadline. (Christmas presents and the Gingerbread house submission interfered.) But I didn't want to waste the work I'd already done, so I guess I'll throw it on here! It doesn't have to count, I just wanted to put it up.

"Battle of the Howling Pass"

The drawing depicts a battle against Tyrielle, specifically the updated version of her outfit from around 2018. I made the avatar character's outfit include items from that year, as well.
The pets are an Evergreen Faelora, a Guardian Angel Griffi, and a Frosted Kitsune Luffox. Their elements are Shadow (Faelora), Light (Griffi), and Fire (Luffox). I really was planning to color this drawing...it's even on watercolor paper, because I was considering painting the background.

This is my first time drawing several characters in one setting! I was happy with how it was going...even if I didn't finish it.

I meant to respond, and forgot. I'm sorry. I just wanted to let you know that the deadline has been extended due to a few (contest and non-contest related) reasons and you have until the 24th (end of the day) to finish your entry if you wish.
