Guess who's back! Sorry I couldn't bother you guys weekly. x) been busy with writing and comics and art and ye

Shameless self-plug if you want to check out my novel comicization/manga/graphic novel what have you hehehe

Anyhow! What is a piece of literature (or media) you feel has greatly influenced your writing? One that inspired you personally?

Mine are mostly manga because for some reason they just have great stories and relatable characters (putting all supernatural/fantasy nonsense aside of course). Some other series that have definitely inspired me are the inheritance cycle, as well as pretty much anything by Dan Brown (I highly recommend Origin) and James Patterson.

i wont lie, a lot of my works are inspired by overwatch because i am very invested in the lore ^^; but other than that, it's mostly people who influence. the discord i'm in currently has played a big part in how i write currently as we are always sharing works and advice with each other.

I wish I had a dedicated writers discord lol. I remember getting into overwatch when it first came out - the lore is neat but I'm not big on that gameplay style rip. Game lore is always the deepest and coolest. especially once people begin theorizing x)

honestly i don't even play the game ^^; i'm just way into the lore because as you said - games have the best lore. the server i'm on is great because they have spaces for writers, artists, and any sort of creator you can imagine. you could probably make a server if you wanted, i used to have a server for something else but it got abandoned as school got harder.

Just about every book by Jennifer A. Nielsen has impacted the way I write, not only that but it made me start reading a lot of books in the historical fiction genre, and I've found a lot of books and series through that that I read religiously lol.

Anything lovecraftian, heaps of DND lore, lots of 00s anime (FMA and A:TLA definitely comes to mind) and a lot of sci-fi media. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Red vs Blue, Halo, Star Trek, and Doctor Who all come to mind.
I just love writing philosophical, character driven and often dark tinged stories and universes that never take themselves *too* seriously.

a writer's discord btw would also be really cool to have if you ever feel like ever making the idea.
I'd jump on that in a heartbeat even if most of what I write currently is just for RP/RPG settings or thought dumps for one of my own universes

Saaaame lmao
I could definitely set one up if people here would like. I set up Discords all the time, so it wouldn't take too long. Just would like to know if there's the interest for it. :p

I'd personally credit Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, and the Inheritance Cycle.

im not joking i have a whole series of characters and a whole universe created based of J. K. Rowling's ideas. No joke the story i wrote for it even starts the same but with an owl.

It wasn't the same later on (much more chaotic) but that def jumpstarted my worldbuilding career. Sadly i remember like 2% of what i did for it-
