Perturbed, I keep my distance from the intimidating tree and slowly circle to the other side where the path should have continued from. I look around slowly mainly focusing on the large tree, but also distantly keeping note of a few things in my surroundings.

The trees that surround you and the White Oak are ancient but not nearly as thick as the familiar toned tree.

Some directions of the forest have been treaded through, leaving the grass pushed against the ground.

What you think might be blackberry bushes litter the left treaded path. The orange leaves and the now golden berries brush the ground gently.

The path to your right seems to have a water source of sorts. You can only hear the current from here, and faintly at that.
