Ignoring the pang in heart from losing my partner in crime and best friend, I finally look around my surroundings. I seem to be in a... large city, quite far from where I usually reside. Shrinking in the large overcoat around my shoulders, I walk with no destination in mind, only going where my feet lead me.

You wander through the streets, which seem to be mostly deserted. Adding to the generally gloomy and dark feel, a light drizzle begins, and the sun is quickly obscured by dark clouds the color of smoke.

The only good thing is that it seems the "disease" hasn't spread here yet.

You keep walking until you find yourself at the mahogany doors of a large building.

I exhale, a small wisp of my breathe rising in the air. Not wanting to get caught in the almost inevitable storm, I walk up to the door and attempt to open it, hoping it wasn't locked.

It isn't locked, you peek inside to find a mostly empty, but very fancy room. The ceiling is way above your head, and you can tell that it isn't the only floor in this building. It is disturbingly quiet, however, and there are no signs of life.

I crane my neck as I look around the room in slight amazement. Walking through the nearest doorway, I eye the large paintings that adorn the walls suspiciously.

The nearest doorway leads into a huge hallway, so long you can't see the end of it, and so wide that if two people spread their arms and stood side by side in it, they wouldn't even come close to touching the walls.

The pictures seem to be random abstract, not unusual paintings.

You hear a small scuffling noise coming from a door farther down the hallway.
