kyool

I know some about the bible, but I'm mostly into the... um, this is kinda embarrassing to talk about, 'cause some people think I'm a bad person for it... ahem. Please don't judge. I'm a normal person (if a little crazy). Please don't hate me for this. But I'm a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints... better known as Mormon, but we're trying not to use that as much. You can do all the research you want, a vast majority of it isn't true. We're really hated... but eh, freedom of speech, I guess, I can't stop anyone from saying anything disrespectful.

Anyway, I'm not as well-versed in bible-speak, but I'm pretty okay with the Book of Mormon and Doctrine and Covenants....

I don't mean to get too controversial, but this is a bit of a debate page, isn't it...? I don't believe in science vs. religion, myself, the whole "big bang or grand creation", "evolution or creation"... it's all just silly to me... I don't see how can people who believe in God AND know that cells exist think that creation wouldn't have a certain complexity to it, if everything has such a methodical way of working... Why do they have to be mutually exclusive?
And look what we ourselves are working for! We're looking for ways to live longer, healthier lives... we're creating worlds, sometimes in our heads, sometimes in a screen, sometimes in a VR machine... IF we could achieve immortality, IF we could create new worlds at the tips of our fingers, with the technology to make virtual creatures that think and act for themselves, what does that make US to those virtual beings?

...ahem. Just saying....

Haha! I wasn't actually discussing any theory, but I like the discussion it incited... I was referencing one of the books from the series "A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy". It talks about how people built a computer called Deep Thought, which was made to find the answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything. The answer it comes up with, after several thousand years, is 42. After facing the disappointment of the people who built him (the computer), he suggests they find the question that goes with the answer, but since he himself couldn't find it, the people had the Earth built, a computer so complex that organic life itself was part of it, and they themselves lived on Earth as mice.

Then the Earth is destroyed by a Vogon fleet just five... minutes? I think it was minutes, I'd have to check... before the mice would have the answer. One of the surviving humans tried to tap into their subconscious to find the answer, but all he came up with was "What do you get when you multiply seven and" ... i wanna say nine, 'cause it wan't six... the author died before he wrote the sixth and final book, so it's just left on a HUGE cliffhanger ;-; Kinda disappointing

Yea I've heard of that xD if you ask Google, "What's the answer to life, the universe, and everything?" it'll give you a calculator that says 42.
