It doesn't necessarily mean you may get the item - there could be good results and bad results ;P
And no - swords do not have power LOL They're just certain colors - I planned out a small storyline already to go on with, so currently in the story they hold no meaning except a form of defense and attack :>

I eye the black sword longingly.
"Guys, should we go for it?" I ask. "Hey, at least it's probably me who'll get bitten. But, it seems I never get majorly sick when I get bitten. Usually, snakes never bite me." I say. "C'mon, I brought the medicine for all poisonous snake bites! I've only got bitten once by a mamba. Strangely, I only got really sick..."
I glance at them. I don't mention that my medicine is at home, where ever that is."

With a loud THUMP, a girl dressed in the colors Black and purple landed on the ground in the middle of the forest.

"Uh, OWWWWWW!!!!" She shouted, standing up with some difficulty. "Of all the damned days to wear my poufy dress!" She humphed and looked around, all the while whacking dirt and dust out of her dress in big clouds.
"...Hey, Where did Hati go?" Looking around for her apparently missing Raven, she spotted him along with a few other birds eating a bread crumb trail two little Children were leaving behind.
"...This is so not happening. Not again. Oh my KRINDON AND FAIONA THIS IS HAPPENING AGAIN." Hati gave her a weird look before going back to nom on the crumbs.
"...Ok...So...Hansel....And...Gretel....Where's the creepy wit--...And I discontinue that thought."
After being invited to join the two kids and the witch, Chi stared at them, (Being totally in denial that this was happening. AGAIN.)
"Well...Hati DID eat their bread crumbs. And I don't really wish to be eaten. So...I guess I owe it to them to attempt to NOT allow them to be eaten."
"...HATI! GET YOUR FEATHERED BUTT OVER HERE NOW." After having her not-so-faithful feathered friend perched back onto her hand, she turned to look at the two weirded out kids.
"If you go with her, She's gonna eat you. Back you into pie, if my memory is correct. So really. You should just continue on your merry way."

I tell them to hold on a minute while I think. I go sit on a nearby rock and ponder about it. I know what happens in the end of Hansel and Gretel, so why not try to change it???? After 2 minutes, I tell them what I decided on. I decide to go with them to the pale woman's gingerbread house. (EVIL WITCH) Trying to kill little kids. I will have my revenge!!!!!
