Tysm for doing this!

I've been to pride in my city the past couple of years, the first two we've done, and it's been really nice to see people coming forward to support each other, even at such a small event.

I would like to share my story,

So I am Bi and this is all the ways I came out to everyone,

Me: Hi
Brother: Shutup
Me: I have something to tell you
Brother: I knew it your gay
Me: no, not technically
Brother: Your Bi????
Me: Suprise

How I can out to my sis

Me: Can I talk to you about something?
Sis: I have nothing to do so sure, I guess.
Me: I think I am...
Sis: you're bi, yeah he already told me *points to my brother*

My mom

Me: I think I am Bi
Mom: you don't know what you are you are not old enough to know that, everyone your age says that but you will get over it

So my mom doesn't support me but my brother does, it got so bad that I had to tell my mom I am not Bi, but I am happy that my brother knows and that my friends support me!

Totally not me forgetting this dsjfksk

Very glad to have such a welcoming community here on Sylestia and I'm very glad to have met my SO and some of my closest fruity friends here. While I was lucky to have a supportive parent, there weren't a lot of people that I knew at school who were really apart of the LGBTQ+ community that I felt comfortable around so to find a place that I felt so safe to be myself was a big thing for me <3

I haven't answered here yet as I wasn't really sure what I was going to write.

I've been very blessed in that my sexuality has mostly been a non-issue in my life. When I came out to my family, my siblings' reactions were in the realm of 'cool' and then just continued on with life. Coming out to my parents was basically me saying 'I'm dating a woman and have been for the last five months', and them saying 'as long as you're happy, we're happy'. I found out a few years later that me coming out that way left my mom under the impression that I was a lesbian, but when she mentioned that to my sister, my sister cleared that up by stating clearly that I was bi lol.

With friends, again, it was a non-issue. Many of my friends were already out as gay, bi, ace, etc, and a lot of them had picked up on my sexuality before I did XD

And here on Sylestia I am glad that it is such a loving and inclusive community. I have never felt like there was a reason to hide who I am, but there's also no reason to make a big deal of it and stand up for myself and my community either. And that just feels wonderful.

Even though pride month is over now, I hope the spirit of pride stays with everyone all year round <3

I thought carefully about what to say to enter this, but the most meaningful positive experience for me has been my partner helping me figure everything out. I grew up in an enviroment where I was expected to confirm to an imaginary "normal" in lots of ways, so was used to bottling everything up and ignoring my feelings.
My partner helped me work out both my gender and sexuality, this was several years into our relationship and I will always be grateful for how supportive they were and that none of it mattered at all to them, they just wanted to help me be happy with who I am.

I came out as bi to all my friends in high school, in an unplanned, spur of the moment way during a game of truth or dare. Most people weren't overly surprised and all but one person was supportive. We all spent like a week merrily mocking him for his ridiculous excuses for bigotry. Four more of my friends also came out as gay or bi over the next couple of years. No one talks to the one religious nutter anymore. He still whines on facebook about how all his friends dumped him, like he didn't drive us away by telling half of us we were going to hell, lol.

Also, shoutout to some of the first few fandoms I was in as a kid/early teen - Star Trek, Sherlock Holmes, Harry Potter, Lost and Animorphs. With extremely homophobic parents and almost no representation on TV, life would have really sucked without support from online communities and representation in fanfic.

when my dad joked "who is she?" after I mentioned I was dating someone (it didn't last and they never actually met him anyway)it was just the fact that my parents who are in an older demographic more known for being unsupportive, honestly didn't give a ****** who I was with as long as I was happy. It wasn't really a topic that has been bought up prior in our family so I was kinda caught off guard at how nonchalant they were
