His ear twitches as he settled down into the grass a bit lower, listening for anything. His mouth slightly open to catch any scents...nothing was really popping up

Moonstrike waits patiently as you filter through the earthy scents of the forest, everything overlaid by the pervasive smell of mud from the creek bed. You manage to pick up a scuffle of dry leaves on the opposite bank and the scent of squirrel is carried from the forest across the stream and to your right.

His tail twitched a bit more as he caught the scent, but which side of the border is it? he asked himself slinking slowly to the scent,

You launch yourself headlong in a spray of earth, enjoying the feeling of sheer freedom as you charge down the hill after your brother. Graywing had quite the head start on you, and despite you best efforts reaches the bottom a solid tail length ahead of you.

"Nice job badgerpaws," he twitches an ear at you teasingly, but his eyes alight with playful mischief and exhilaration from the run.

(you're hunting at a side stream that flows through Thunderclan territory and filters into the Riverclan border. You're far enough away from the confluence not to have to worry about other clans.)

You tense in excitement at the scent and Moonstrike brushes you lightly with her tail, warning you to stay calm. After a few seconds you're able to separate the smells; the squirrel is further in the forest across and to your right, while a flash of brown tail in the grasses tells you that the scuffle you heard on the opposite bank was a vole.

(got it,but it's always good to be careful)

He calmed down a bit, still tense. And kept sliding closer to the squirrel until he could see it,he prepared to pounce once it came into sight

You pad quietly across the mud-caked stream bed and start up the opposing bank. You can't quite see the squirrel, but the wind carries the scent straight towards you. Your prey is very close, about 7 feet into the woods but on the other side of the tall grasses that line the edge of the stream.

Come on, Come out of the grass,he muttered in his head as a seeming plead to the squirrel, he knew if he got into the tall grass he'd make noise. He slid one paw off of the mud into the grass, bracing for a noise

You place you paw carefully, wincing as it brushes against the a grass stalk. The squirrel doesn't notice, too busy rooting around for nuts on the forest floor.

You're still nearly 7 feet from the squirrel but leap anyway, assuming you have a better chance chasing it than stalking through the tall grass. Hurtling forward with a massive leap, you alert the squirrel but manage to snag its tail with a deft claw as it flees, dispatching it easily with a swift bite to the neck. A bit messy, but still a catch.
