Prompt: The Birth of Sylestia
The Elements
In the beginning, darkness reigned. Then a single tiny light appeared amidst the darkness. The darkness, lonely, took in the light and caressed it. The darkness raised the light, making it grow until it was nearly engulfed. The light, horrified, began to shape other beings from its form. Fire was first, something that would give light and shadow. Then came the earth, casting shadows for her dear darkness. Water was next, it's depths providing a haven for darkness by distorting her light. Then air, created in mind with the gentle nurturing she had witnessed.
Light and darkness were no longer alone, and they took care of the younger elements to the best of their abilities. Earth, too, wanted to create like her mother. But how? She thought and thought, thought and thought. Until an idea came to her. What if she created things that seemed unnatural? Earth, seeing how sickly air was, began to create plants. Fire, intrigued, tried to help too, but he found himself burning his sister's creation. Grieved, he fled, not close enough to his hated brother water, but far enough that he wouldn't harm earth's creation.
Wind, thankful for the gift earth gave to him, whispered ideas to earth, for he, too wanted to create. They noticed their sister, water, also wanted children, so the three conspired to create something marvelous together. They thought and thought, thought and thought. Until water went to away, wanting to make his own creatures. He created the fish that lived and breathed in his form, deep where darkness lay. Darkness, proud of his creations, sent some of the fish up for the others to see. The fish, intrigued by earth, climbed onto land and was greeted by both earth and wind.
Time passed, and earth finally found what to create. Along with wind, they breathed life into animals big and strong, while the fish that dwelled on land changed into creatures with scales and teeth, slimy skin and fins, feathers and beaks. Water grew jealous and greedy of earth and wind, as their creations were far more plentiful and diverse than his. He became cold hearted and sent a curse on earth and wind. Earth protected wind somewhat, taking the curse full force while wind's curse slowly wore at him.
The land became cold and unloving and many creatures of earth and wind died. Fire, seeing the destruction, at last came out from mother light's nurturing embrace and gave his gift to the shivering creatures. Many were scared and fled, but some stayed and found warmth. They used fire's gift to heat up the world, removing parts of water's curse from both air and earth.
Time passed and the land slowly healed in some places, bringing back lush vegetation. The creatures that took fire's gift went separate ways, one taking to the earth's vegetation, one taking to the air, one taking to everywhere they could find but water, for they remembered water's curse and feared it. Light and darkness were happy for their children, but then they saw that the hardy people were lonely. This time, darkness created beings that reveled in her embrace, creatures that looked like the people but not, creatures with many limbs, creatures that only woke up at night when she reigned. Light, once more, created beings as to make companions for the lonely people. But they had no life. Gathering her children and her mother together, each of them granted a gift to the ones that were about to be born.
Darkness granted them the power of the cosmos, an ancient magic she learned that these children to harness it. Light granted them the power of intelligence and wisdom, making them know things the people did not. Fire, awkward, granted them the power of passion and strength to defend themselves from evil. Earth granted them the power of loyalty and steadfastness, wishing them to be the friends they were always meant to be. Water, outraged at earth's gift, gave them the power of choice, choosing whether or not to be companions or to live with themselves as beasts. And finally, air gave their creations the gift of life, breathing it into the many beings his mother created. These creatures, with the gifts of all the elements, became the first sylestis.
Time went on and the six elements decided to live with the people, changing their form and name to suit their appearance. They were worshipped as gods and people showered them with gifts. The people of the woods became elves, the people of the air became fairies, the people of darkness became trolls, and the hardy people became man. The sylestis lived in the wild, sometimes becoming man's companions, sometimes living by themselves. But time goes on and soon the god elements hid, away from civilization for people were slowly forgetting about the gods, their creators. And so the god elements continued to watch their world, calling it Sylestia in honor of the creatures that they all gave gifts too. And that, my dears, was how Sylestia was born.

When the Night Falls
You've known Sylestia to be a beautiful place, filled with amazing animals harnessing elements. You befriend them, and all goes well.
Right. Because that's all that happens.
Shh. I'm telling the story right now.
Well go on with it then! Nobody has all day.
But what do you really know about Sylestia? You know about the day, but not what happens in the time of pitch black. Sylestians lock their doors and shut their stables, for the night is a dangerous time to be out. It is not wise nor recommended.
You've probably never heard of the dark magic and undead plaguing the fairies, have you? If you have, well, you're a true sylestian, I can tell you that. Evil lurks in every corner, for there cannot be light without darkness. Sit back and get comfy, for this tale has only just begun.
It started just when the world was created from anew, all life begins with two simple elements; life and dea. Now, these elements can also be considered light and dark, because in this context they basically mean the same thing.

Oh man, thanks for letting me pass onto the next round! To switch the genres around, I've written this story in more of a comedy sort of style, so I hope you still like it. ^^'
The Birth of Sylestia
It has been 1,042 days since the arrival of Krinadon. This was when the world was still other than the slow movements of grass and trees and the water. Not a sound was heard but the wind and the waves, for nothing lived here. Nothing except a dinosaur.
At 1:39 AM, this dinosaur fell from the sky onto a small patch of grass in what is now Esior's Haven. He sat there in dazed confusion for 26 seconds before another dinosaur dropped onto the same patch of grass. They immediately fell in love.
These dinosaurs knew nothing except that they needed rad dinosaur names, so the second dinosaur pointed at the first with one foot and said slowly, "Krin-a-don"
Krinadon, puzzled, lay his head in his arms while he tried to think of a rad dinosaur name for the second one. Try as he might, all he could think of were strange names in another language like "Sylvorpa" and "Qitari," all containing uncommon letters for some reason.
The second dinosaur shook her head in disbelief and uttered a simple word: "Faiona."
Krinadon stared at Faiona in awe, for Behold! she had an extraordinary talent for coming up with names that didn't sound like Transformers!
'This must truly be the dinosaur for me,' thought he.
After Faiona had named the two of them, Krinadon looked around at the lonely landscape, blinking in sadness at the lack of weird-looking creatures running around.
"Blagh" he bellowed into the cool air, looking for any sign of life other than him and his dinosaur lady-friend. Nothing.
As he raised a stubby dino leg into the air to create some sort of a creature, Faiona said to him in rough dino-speak:
"Nu let meh do it you'll mess it up"
And so the first life was created by Faiona, and it was a gnat which flew away into the distance.
"No," said Krinadon, "you must create something which stays here and does not fly away."
And so he created a fox-like creature which he creatively named "Zolnixi," with a "Z" and an "X."
Faiona sat with eyes half shut and grumbled about Krinadon's strange names while he worked on creating all twenty-one current species. Most of them looked like squiggly lines, though, so Faiona molded them into something a bit more aesthetically pleasing.
As more and more creatures were formed and perfected by Faiona and Krinadon, more dinosaurs also fell from the sky. They built little towns and dungeons and discovered sources like magic. Some even grew wings! After a long time when much of what was now called Sylestia was built, the dinosaurs stopped calling themselves dinosaurs and instead called themselves Elves and Fairies and such.
Now the world of Sylestia is almost complete, and stories like this have become but a legend to its people.
