Sai is startled when Lio slings his arm over his shoulder. He opens his mouth, hesitates, and then shuts himself up before he could ask Lio what in the world he's doing here. With a sigh, he lets Lio take this conversation where he will. Sai is on edge at this point, looking at the guard and then glancing around at his surroundings as his grip on his staff tightens.
Sai and Lio are with the guard. Lilith and Lark are hiding, Florian is in the alleyway. The guard is beginning to suspect something is up, but he doesn't have the guts to start a fight. It wasn't really part of his job description. With a quick glance at his watch, he asks Sai and now Lio why they're here.
I think he's stalling. Ace seems worried.
What will Sai and Lio do/say? Will the others stay hidden or try to regroup?
Lio lwans his arm on Sai's shoulder and flashes a grin. "Looking for a good show, man. Auction houses and bars always got the good stuff. We just dont take to going through front doors, too mucb attention. You get all these people asking you to buy stuff or waste cahs and then you go home broke qith stuff you never gonna use. Go int he back door, no one gives a &$^^# about you half the time. So, cna you let us in?"

Just a reminder ping for those who haven't responded! I'd prefer not to move on before getting every character's input, but I will 24 hours after the last active post (so like tomorrow afternoon). Just for future notice!
If your character doesn't want to do anything, just post "skip" so I know you've caught up! I don't want to leave anyone behind. :)

Is it possible to skip? I'm not sure what I would do besides just continuing to sit around, watch the other two, and contemplate their likely demise. I'm not planning on joining in the conversation haha.

Oh, yeah, I just want to make sure everyone's caught up In future rounds. just post "skip" or something to that effect. I don't want to leave anyone behind! :3

Forgot to mention that Lio passed a Charisma check! Lio: 10. Required to pass: 7. Result: 9.
Realization dawns in the guard's eyes. "Oh. Well, um, all of the- You remembered your papers?" He thinks you must be some of the patrons.
You're on your own on this one, laddies.
Will Sai and Lio continue the act? Will the others stay hidden or try to regroup?
(Reminder that if your character doesn't act in a scene, please post 'skip' so I know you've read it! I don't want to leave anyone behind :3)

Florian watches Lio and Sai and grins madly. That actually..... worked? Jeez, that guard has the smarts of a boulder. Don't do something stupid and get us all killed, you two.

Lio grins, nods, put his hand in his pocjet, and fakes horror. Like hes lost osmething, whoch he haant. But the guards kind of dumb so....
Yeah. Thr fake expression of how you lost nonexistant papers is wonderfully fun to do if youre Lio Johanson.

I cover my mouth with a hand, as I try my best to suppress my laughter at Lio's expression of alarm. I didn't know how stupid the guard has to be, but, at this point, I wasn't sure what he wouldn't believe. I will him to hurry up and give the password to Sai and Lio already, so that we could finally see for ourselves the item that Ace seems so concerned with.

Also out of curiosity, what exactly do your stats have to do with your roll? Do you roll a number between 1 and your stat, or does it just affect how low the initial threshold is?
Now I'm being peer pressured into doing 3rd person lmao)
Wow, that actually worked, Lark realizes, vaguely impressed. But they hadn't missed the guard's glance at his watch earlier, and Lio's in a bit of an uncertain position still, even though the guard, whose brains have apparently been eaten by a snail, seems to be less on edge. Time might be ticking- a change of shift, possibly- and if they want to get in this way, they'll need to hurry up. Who knows if the next guard will be as stupid, assuming the guard's stalling for his shift change and not something else.
So they weigh the consequences.
If they help out and fail, they'll probably get arrested first. If they stay hidden, they could try to get away if Lio and Sai fail, but such a failure might ruin the chances of being able to get in at all. They're not exactly one to leave people hanging, especially when such people are actually pulling some sort of weight, but they also don't want to die for people they've literally just met, and betting on their ability to talk to people isn't something they usually do.
Decisions, decisions.
Interference could definitely go horribly wrong. But they're just trying to nudge things in a direction they're already going, not anything drastic, like, dunno, suddenly trying to chat up a guard out of nowhere.
Well, it's all about calculated risks, isn't it?
One thing tips the balance- all this standing around watching is making them restless.
Faking an exasperated smile, they saunter up to the guard, trying to appear as laid-back and nonchalant as possible. "You guys! I thought I was going to be late, got delayed in traffic for a good ten minutes, but you're still here?! Wasn't the whole point of going through the back door to avoid the hassle?"
They huff, shooting the guard an apologetic look. "Sorry if these idiots are bothering you. Sometimes I swear I'm the only reliable one here."
Then they pretend to suddenly have to put two and two together, between Lio's fumbling and horrified expression, and the guard's expectant look. "... Please don't tell me you did what I think you did."
Even if they can't get in this way, they figure, maybe they can at least get Sai and Lio out before they do something stupid.
They keep up the act. "You idiot! I gave you one job. 'Hold on to the papers,' I said. It literally couldn't be simpler. And what did you do?"
(Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk. I'm deprived of lit RPs, apparently.)

Sai watches Lio and jumps when Lark walks up beside them. "What? No, I didn't lose the papers. You didn't hand them to me since we agreed I was the worst at keeping track of things." Then he runs over what Lark had said and whom they had aimed it at.
He laughs nervously and rocks back on his heels and laughs anxiously. "Well, with that said, anyone could have lost the papers..." For some reason he now felt it is his job to protect Lio from Lark's blaming.
