The goblin's face broke out into a giant, fang-toothy smile. "Thank! Thank! There," he told you, pointing south. "Beast in goblin dead place."

Her heart ached for this young one. "Shhh, it's ok, I know it is so much different than home is. Come, let me introduce you to Niala, that way you have someone to stay with so you won't be alone...That way I won't worry about you when I head out to see if I can find your father. Was it just the two of you? And what did these big people look like?" She tries to get the young one to follow her and head over to where she had just been, where Niala was. She was pretty sure Niala would care for the young dwarf until she could find out what happened to the father.

Malak was unsure how he felt about the abode. Something seemed increasingly eerie about it.
He stopped just in front of the large hole, examining it as closely as he could. He could see something glinting from inside and his brow furrowed as he frowned. He glanced at Elysetta, his feelings about not wanting to put her in danger still present, and then turned back to the house.
d.) Say something
"Hello!" he called as loudly as he could into the hole, "Is there anybody there?"

The little girl sniffled. "They were big, and they had pointy ears... And yeah, it was just papa and I. It's always been just papa and I," she told you.

Less than a minute after you called, Elysetta cried out in pain beside you. You looked at her and saw a figure you could only describe as a shadow itself wrenching one of her wings into an unnatural position. It clasped a hand over her mouth and pulled her down into the snow.
Before you could react, another of the shadow-beings grabbed you and, nimble as a fox, swept your scimitar out of your hands. You were pulled downwards, and everything went black. All you could remember was the cold.
Who knows how long later, you slowly come to consciousness in a freezing stone room with no windows or doors, only a small latch in the ceiling. Elysetta is a few feet away from you, curled into herself in a fetal position with one wing folded and the other spread and crooked.

"Ok. I will go and see if I can find your father, maybe he is just needing help finding his way. Or maybe he is just making sure you are not lost and taking his time getting here. Let us go see Niala, that way you will not be alone here. She is kind and caring. I want to know you are safe before I leave."

Malak waited to hear if there was a response from inside the house. Just as he was about to glance behind him at Elysetta he heard her cry out in pain. He spun around, moving faster than he ever had in his life and saw her struggling against a shadowy assailant.
"Elysetta!" he cried out.
His reflexes, honed by years of training moved his hands instantly towards his scimitar, but it was no use. Another shadowy being had taken hold of him. It was like trying to battle smoke as he did his best to wrest himself away to no avail. He was pulled downward into the snow and after that his world went black.
When he came to, he sat straight up and much too fast, grabbing his head in pain. It took him a moment to get his bearings back, to assess his surroundings. His memory of Elysetta came back in a rush and he looked around for her in a panic, his heart hammering in his chest. He saw her lying on the floor of the room they were in, one of her wings looking very much broken. It felt as though something was trying to squeeze the breath from his body as he inched towards her.
"Elysetta?" he said very softly so as not to alarm her, not daring to touch her.

As you spoke to her, Elysetta stirred. She slowly sat up, as well, but did not meet your gaze. "Sorry," she mumbled. "Are you hurt?" she questioned, turning to face you with her eyes still downcast.

Watching her sit up, it took all of Malak's vast supply of willpower not to reach out and aid her.
He remembered how uncomfortable she had seemed when he wrapped her shoulder wound back at the lake.
Still, he felt relieved to see her moving, but as soon as she spoke he felt strangely confused.
"What are you sorry about?" he asked, his brows furrowing deeply, "I am mostly unharmed. I should be the one asking if you are okay."
