This was becoming too much for Malak. He had left home to be free of the tyranny of his father.He had left that life behind with no intention of ever looking back. To be confronted by this image of his father,despite knowing that it was not real, was too much to bare. He began to try removing his hand from the stone,tugging with all of his might, but it held fast. However, as he jerked his body the feather he had collected from Elysetta fell from within the fold of his tunic and fluttered to the ground. He followed its progress to the floor,the sight of it like an anchor in the darkness.
"You're wrong," he muttered, reaching down with his free hand and grasping the feather firmly, "You're wrong."His voice stronger now, his back straight. "Your teachings did nothing but teach me to be an uncaring tyrant,to removed myself from my own feelings towards others and live my life alone. I will never follow inyour footsteps, and Elysetta's feelings toward me are unimportant. She needs me and I shall help her."

As the doubt left your body, your father groaned in pain. "You insolent little whelp!" he wheezed, and then crumbled to dust. Once again, the stone was in its place, and you were capable of removing your hand from it now. What's more, there was a perfect chip of stone, in the shape of a teardrop, right where your hand was, as if the stone itself had cried at your touch. What do you wish to do?
a) Carefully remove the chip from the stone
b) Hit the stone
c) Hug the stone

Malak had no idea what result his defiance would yield, but he felt a weight leave his shoulders as he proclaimed his final words to the image of his father. They were words he had always wanted to tell his father, but had never had the courage. When the ghostly image disappeared and Malak was once again alone in the room, he collapsed to his knees, shaking and taking deep gulps of breath. He was grateful no one was here to see him in such a state, but he felt like he had just sprinted from one end of his village to another on the hottest day of the year.
After he regained his composure somewhat, he stood and gazed at the stone. He saw the chip that he had come for, and gave Elysetta's feather a squeeze before reaching out to...
a.) Carefully remove the chip from the stone
...and slip the chip into his pouch. He then bowed respectfully to the stone before leaving. "Thank you."

As you touched the ship, it glowed a burnt sort of sunset orange, the same color as your wings. You slip it into your pouch and begin making your way back to the tunnel. You exit the cove without any trouble.
What do you wish to do?
a) Go to Elysetta
b) Leave and abandon her
c) Fly away

There was a lot on Malak's mind as he made his way back through the tunnel. He hadn't even paid attention to the fact that Berrat hadn't been there when he exited the stone room. He was considering what the illusion of his father had said about Elysetta, how she was in love with another. Was it the person Berrat had mentioned? Tiran? Malak wasn't sure, and he was uncertain that she would be forthcoming were he to ask. As he...

...flew back in Elysetta's direction, he made up his mind that it didn't matter, just as he had told his father.

You return to the clearing where you had left Elysetta. She was sitting against a tree, her eyes closed and face pale. As you approached, her opened her eyes. "You have returned," she greeted you. "Were you successful?"

Malak landed on a stump near where Elysetta was seated. He was alarmed to see how pale she looked. He hoped wasn't too late. He hastily pulled the stone chip from his pouch and help it out to her.
"I was," he told her.
