It was becoming clearer by the minute that Malak was getting nowhere with this woman. He frowned, though all that could be seen was the furrow of his brow. She seemed quite argumentative, another very unwomanly trait based on his upbringing. It was all just so strange to him. How was he to proceed?
"It is evidently clear that I cannot give you such proof," he said to her, grinding his teeth, "You clearly possess magic, which I do not. You also are clearly not like the women I am accustomed to."

Upon seeing her relax, some of the tension left Malak's body as well. He decided it was time to put away his scimitar. There was clearly no present threat at this point. It would always be available should he need it again. However, his fingers froze as he was securing it once more at his side when the woman spoke and asked her question.
His eyes flashed dangerously in her direction, all of the emotions behind his motives for leaving home coming out in a rush before he could reign them in. He gave his head a hard shake, trying regain some composure before replying.
"I left home," he stated, trying to keep his voice as neutral as possible, "I cannot go back."
