Try telling it from the perspective of another character, and tell the audience how they feel, put them in the mind of the character to make the reader feel the pain it's causing-

Also crying, yes, crying makes your head hurt. Also, no one looks good when they're crying.
Although, personally, I've never known anyone before they died fortunately, but I'll try.

O-o weird but nicely poetic
I was thinking someone close to them. When one of my characters dies, it'll be told from the perspective of their best friend... which will be fun ;-; bleh
I mean, I've lost people, I can try to help you know what it feels like, depending on the relationship to dying person-
