So, I don't have the entire idea worked out, but it's enough to do an interest check on.
So, I was thinking about books I read and listening to some Katy Perry (without rapping parts) music. I remember this slightly irritating but still good book I read awhile ago. It was The Rest of Us Just Live Here and it was about these kids that are just normal. A lot of the kids at the school, I believe, are normal. And then there is a group of kids called "indie" kids that aren't normal and get kidnapped a lot and fall in love with vampires and stuff.
So I was thinking, "What if there was a city full of people that could do magic and other cool things except this group of kids?" Then I was like, "What if that group of kids were like geniuses or something?" Then, "What if everyone else though these non-magical kids were natural geniuses but some actually had to study just to get a passing grade?" Then, somehow (Probs because of Katy Perry's "E.T." song), the idea morphed into "High school is filled with magic and almost everyone can do magic except this group of geniuses that some had to occasionally study to get straight A's and aliens invaded the school, acting like the students (having "magic" abilities except not really magic) and the only people that could tell the difference were the non-magical group of geniuses"
TL;DR Group of non-magical geniuses are tasked with saving their magical city/world from aliens.
Edit because English teacher somehow got into my brain and was yelling at me for quoting the title.

Gonna warn y'all that the majority of this story deals with high school students.
I mean, it's only a new warning if you just read the TL;DR part.
(Also, there might be a teacher available. I think I'm gonna shove my teacher OC into this universe. *casually shoves character into box*)
