I know I'm late to the party but I think I really prefer the current nytes to the new ones. As a nyte collector, the biggest no-no thing for me is the fluffy-looking body feathers and the new male pose - the old one with the tail in front and below the body is just waaay more beautiful! Othwerwise, great improvement on the faces compared to the previous sketch :D

Unfortunately, it just isn't a realistic possibility to put tails in front of bodies because of layering issues. Doing it creates a massive array of layering issues both just with the tail itself, but also with virtually anything that goes on the body.

For the Qitari, it's a nightmare. The tail it literally split it half which means any gene or mutation we do for the tail has to be meticulously split in half so that you cannot tell that it's split in half and both parts have to line up perfectly. And then on top of that it's a lot of extra layers just dealing with the tail splits, their genes, their mutations, and then interactions with body mutations that may go above or below the tail - some mutations even do both.

So we really just don't have a realistic option of putting the tail anywhere else but behind just purely for layering reasons.

I love the sketches and the fact they look more like owls now. I may have to start collecting them when done.

Oh better!
I think my complaints at this point are largely satisfied, but some things still bother me a bit:
1. Relaxing the raised female's claws
2. More of an S-shape in the neck and chest for both
3. I still feel like the heads look too big
4. The male's back can take a more extreme arch and his fore-feet can still be moved closer together

Dragons and owls are both animals I feel are associated with having a proud or regal stance. I think almost all of the suggestions up above are efforts to achieve that.

Here are some rly rly quick doodles. obviously not quite the style you're going for, but in order to convey a point

Edit: I think I might also agree with scath about the two finger thing

I LOVE these sketches! If the official art ended up looking like these I'd be thrilled. The expressions and poses are perfect!

I agree with Scath, these look much better, but three fingers? The wing joint would be really crowded with "four fingers" (the fourth making up the other part of the wing itself.) The two fingers made more sense to me, less crowded, easier for the bird to fly. Otherwise I do really like these updates, my collection might just be staying with me after all :D

I am happy with these! Its good to see the beards are gone, and i love the excessive amounts of feathers.

The only thing i would change at this point is the males back. Right now he looks kinda dog-like. Id love to see more of an arch in his back.

Otherwise, I am excited to see them with shading and color :) hyped to see my sunken ship nytes when the revamp is done!

i still think they looka little too squished, i like the old model better. i think they should be longer and less stiff looking. also the beak is a tad odd but they look fluffy

I am liking the new forms however, (please don't hate me) but I agree that the male form lacks that look of..power and looks more..fledgling-like (which could be used for a teen form I suppose) and I like Dinnerbone's sketches..looks much less cartoony then the original and both genders has more of a stance that commands respect.
