The trek to the stables was rather uneventful, but you did notice a river within sight of the stables. You take note of that, figuring it would be quite useful. The stables itself are as expected. They appear to be newly built and have pastures large enough to fit the same amount of horses as there are stalls, 10. The hay you ordered has been placed accordingly, as has the bedding and tools. The only thing that stands out to you is the the empty tackroom - well, that and the empty stalls.
I decide to head to the town in search of a store to buy some horse equipment and a place to stay in. I needed equipment, for a proper stable, after all.

You kneel down and slot the key into it's hole. It clicks and you open the chest to find... a few antique dolls, dressed in all sorts of handmade clothing. You think you can see a little box at the bottom of the chest, though.

i'm a little disappointed but grab the box, the mystery continues!

You find a climbing rope and a warm blanket at the general store, but the rest of the items are sold at the tack shop at the end of the road. You bring the two items to the clerk. "42 coins please," he says. "I'll draw you a map real quick, and we have a few weapons at the back if you could just tell me what kind of weapon you're looking for. The easiest way to earn money is probably to sell whatever you find adventuring at the pawn shop, or sell horses to the horse trader. You could also ask around to see if anyone needs any errands done." He scribbles for another few seconds, then hands you a map.

He bumps you with his nose, making you topple over. He looks to his herd and then back at you, standing tall and still. He appreciates your thoughtfulness, but he doesn't trust you enough to let you meddle with his herd.
