Tough kiddo. Rian thought respectfully. They soon neared her hut. It was like all the others accept for the black ribbons that decorated the door which had the royal family's crest carved into the wood.

Rian shoved the door open and the spacious area came into view.
Inside a small low table with two pillows under it was nestled in the corner. A multicolored rug was spread out on the floor. Small toys were neatly stored in a box at the edge of the rug. Near the back a small kitchen painted pastels was glinting as if freshly polished. A set of spiral stairs led up to the second floor, which smelled of honeysuckle and jasmine.

Rian steeled her face to hide the fierce sorrow that grasped her heart like an iron fist. She choked back her words and thought over them carefully. "I...I...used to have a daughter about your own age...she was caught in the meteor fire that hit the village and castle... she..." Rian choked back a sob. "Didn't..make it."

[Rian stood there quivering. She silently padded forlornly towards the small kitchen and squeezed inside. The smell of meat cooking with spices slowly filled the evening air in the small hut.]

Rian scooted back into the main room and turned towards the table in silence. She set down a large platter in the center of the table. On it were about 8 pieces of chicken (?) covered in spices and a mild curry.
