There was a new smell in the air, another morrko by the smell of it. Female even. the hair on Altair's neck stood up in noticing it. "We aren't alone out here, be careful. Keep your eyes and ears opened you nev-"
"Never know what will find you when you aren't looking." Maria finished for him. "We have been over this a million times before, I don't think I could possibly forget it." She bumped him playfully as she passed before taking off into the woods ahead of him. "Come on we have a long walk ahead of us, with luck we will find the bear that's been around here!" She called trying to find Night Ice, whom the scent belonged.

Night Ice froze, ears twitching. She smelled something...A morkko? Yes, but...two Morkkos! She turned around, eyes searching the hills behind her. She could still smell the Morkkos, one female and one male. Because of the inconsistent winds, she couldn't tell where they were or how close, but she knew she should move along if she didn't want to run into them. She turned and continued her journey through the snow.

Night Roamer pounced on the white hare, killing it with a swift bite of the back bone. He started to head back to his den, but he noticed the smell of another Morrko, a strange scent. The wind was swirling snow, so he could not see or smell too well where. He could definitely tell it was female though. He stiffened and put on a defensive stance. Night Roamer, after sometime, went back to the cave with the hare, but he closely watched for intruders or enemies.

As Night Ice continued on her travels, the wind began to pick up. She looked to the sky and saw that it was just past noon now, but dark clouds quickly covered the sun, bringing back the dark that she was used to. Just then a new scent is carried on the wind. Not only that of a Morkko, but that of fresh kill. This is yet another new Morkko, one she has not caught scent of before. She veered left slightly, willing to avoid contact. She looks ahead to she that the mountains are fewer and less grand. Pines and evergreens take the place of ice and large rocks. Nearing the edge of the northern border, she thinks to herself. I will continue my travels until nightfall. By then I will have made it to the forest, so I can sleep there and leave before dawn...yes, I'll do that. Having made her decision, Night Ice pads silently through the snow. After only a half-hour, she spots something in the corner of her eye. Swiveling her head to the left and crouching low to the ground, her eyes dart to a patch of evergreen trees and shrubs covered in snow. Another slight movement reveals a small Faelora, clearly only a fawn, lying behind one of the shrubs. It's frozen in fear, knowing it's been seen. Strange, thinks Night Ice, to see one of them this far north...and lucky he is that I'm not hungry yet. She continues southward towards the forest.

The forest is dark, no moon or stars in sight from beneath the dark trees. An owl is heard in the distance and the light patter and squeak of a scurrying creature. Night Ice sits beneath a tall oak tree, digging into the soft earth with her claws to make a bed for the night. As she settles down into the shallow hole, resting her head on her paws, she listens to the sounds of the night. The whisper of the wind in the trees, the laughing waters of a nearby creek, the light tapping of rainfall that has just begun. Then a silvery light casts an eerie glow about the once unseen wood. The forest is bathed in light, trees and shrubs and small night creatures, all bask in the radiance. Night Ice looks up to find the moon peaking out from behind a large evergreen. She smiles to herself, somewhat of a sad smile it was, as she remembers her life in the forest, before she was banned. How every night she would go to a hill just outside of camp, surrounded by a grove of trees. She would sit in the middle of the grove, watching the stars and the moon and sometimes the clouds and rain as well. How peaceful her life had been, how happy she was...then, almost as suddenly as it had appeared, the moon was hidden again by a large cloud and the rain became more heavy on the forest. Night Ice slowly drifted to sleep, listening to the peaceful rain and smelling it's sweet smell, memories of her past fading into her mind as wonderful dreams.

They walked around the borders happily and didn't get nervous at all about the mud. Since this was what they called mud season.
