The Peppermint Princess
They called her the Goddess of Scarlet and Frost, the Heiress of the Peppermint Kingdom. They called her beautiful, with snow white hair, long and cascading like a waterfall, and piercing, captivating gray eyes. With her flowing Water Lilly Robe, streaked with brilliant ruby shades and silvery tones. Large, angelic wings layered with red and white, wings that came along through her bloodline. And Princess Menta knew she was beautiful, knew she was great.
Over all seventeen years of her life, Menta received the utmost attention, and the utmost vanity. She became proud as a peacock, and confident as the king himself.
One day, Menta traveled to the forest to practice collecting herbs, and her teacher sent her out on her own to see if the princess could do it herself. She met an old, hideous crone, with wispy white hair and missing yellowed teeth. Menta curled her nose, and strode right past the hag, even when she reached out to ask for help.
Menta whirled around when she heard a crackle of magic, and in the place of the old crone stood a beautiful, raven-haired woman. The Princess blinked, befuddled with the witch's transformation. "How cruel our princess is. Let me teach her a lesson."
Before Menta could shout in surprise, there was a blast that lit up the forest, and everything faded to black.
Menta woke with the ground oddly close to her face. She struggled to stand, realizing her muscle and bone structure was not as it was before. The princess gasped, or rather growled in surprise when she looked down at her body, to soft layers of white and scarlet fur, whorls of peppermint patterns. Her angelic wings were replaced with smaller, sleeker ones, made for fast flight and speedy travel. The princess was horrified.
Then the witch appeared, and when Menta's hackles raised and she opened her mouth to turn her back, only a feral snarl tumbled out of her jaws. The Princess' jaws closed with a snap, her eyes widened in horror.
And the beautiful witch, deep violet eyes meeting the princess' terrified gray ones, smiled. "A true love's kiss brings the princess back." Then there was only a whorl of violet light, and she disappeared.
