"The winter solstice is but a few days from now, Mother. How can I ever hope to top your marvelous magics if I can't get a moment's quiet around here?" The sorceress tussled his hair fondly. "Oh? And how can an old woman concentrate with a young lad like you babbling in her ear all the way to the Market?" "Fair enough," he relented. "But I intend to summon the greatest of familiars to ever walk in Sylestia!" The sorceress, Malaeda was her name, nodded approvingly as the boy ground and mixed and muttered over his worktable. For three days he had barely slept a wink as he studied his incantations and concocted a most powerful potion of Binding. And on the night of the winter solstice, she knew he would create something more marvelous than anything she had seen in all her long, long life. And so, on the longest night of the year, the apprentice stood ready. A rune-filled star of magical blue light, drawn carefully out within a hallowed circle of standing stones, glittered like the jeweled stars in the sky above. "Czaustum ghaest, vhohdestri'khinae vhah'dho Saerrest..." began the spell, winding its way sinuously across the barren stones. The potion of Binding, sprinkled just so, gathered the power of the ancient words, shaping them, giving them form. Watching from a distance, Malaeda smiled warmly at her pupil's mastery of their trade. Soon... At first it seemed that nothing had happened. The glowing circle faded. The echoes of power faded. But gradually, the apprentice began to realize that something else stood in the circle before him. His excitement mounted as he sensed the presence grow aware of him. Blue eyes as deep and powerful as the bejeweled canvas above opened slowly and locked with his. "Greetings, friend," the resonant mind-voice reverberated through his head. "Friend" the shadowy being had said. Not "master." As human and Ryori gazed joyously at one another, the apprentice knew he would never be alone again for as long as he lived.

Name: Delphi

Backstory: Delphi was born with the power to discern fates threads. The lives of people, so tangled up and so easily changing, were something she tried to get away from. But as Sylesti and people came to know about her ability, many sought her out. Some for their own purposes, some just to see their fates, some wanting to change it. Delphi was eventually captured and taken into a grand city, into a temple. There she cooed to the Sylestis and humans her prophecies. She remains there to this day, waiting for someone to treat her like a normal Sylesti.

Pet Name: Frost
Backstory: She stood there, motionless. What she had just witnessed was hard to recover from. She had witnessed true pain, and it was bad enough that it inflicted itself upon her as well. The snowflakes around her wings shimmered, and though they never usually bothered her, they did now, inflicting cold, harsh reality back into her body.
She shook.
How is it that the world could be so beautiful, yet there were hidden depths of cruelty and betrayal just beneath the surface?
What she had just witnessed, it had been a battle, light between dark. And she seemed to age moons just from seeing it. She was just a hatchling but it felt as if life had been sucked away from her in one moment; just gone. She sighed. A big, deep sigh of regret. Her blue eyes shown with layers of wisdom, just newly fresh and apparent.
But meanwhile, Winter was looking upon her. He had seen what she had gone through, and he had felt immense pity for her. The other three seasons looked at him, judging what he would do. Even Summer's warm gaze had turned cold and hostile in a fraction of a second. He knew the cost of saving her, yet he knew he would never forgive himself if he didn't.
"Don't." Autumn shot him a warning glance, his three sisters looking at him as if he were a complete stranger.
He dipped his head, and, as he did, the fiery reds and gentle blacks dissipated from his pelt, instead being replaced with whites and chilling blues.
"Traitor." Spring snarled, and his siblings turned on him.
But Winter was gone, never to return as a warm season.
Winter looked at Frost, still mourning her siblings like she would do it until the end of the earth. "If that's what you wish," He whispered, and at that moment, he turned her into Frost, a thin white film of mourning covering plants.

I might decide to continue this as a fanfic lol.
