Don't be sad about it! Level up points and the old proficiency system were revamped into the new proficiency system, which is, quite frankly, far more efficient and easier to use and intuit.

It's a lot nicer to spend maybe five minutes picking out exactly which proficiency point distribution you want with with 1-5 points- depending on pet level- if you want to reallocate things.
It used to feel like you would spend twenty minutes considering what to do with up to twelve prof points (one every five levels, as the level cap was 60) and also dealing with this every time you level up.

The old prof system gave a single fixed stat boost for each point you put in a stat (and Str and Int were separate), with the variation in amount coming from how many level up points you put into a stat. This meant you could end up with an Air pet with all its points in Int.

The new prof system has 'fixed' amounts for each of the three ranks, but the amount it gives scales with your pet's level- A lv0 pet gets +20 from rank1 Str/Int/Dex/Agi, while that same rank1 prof at lv70 gets +299.

(case in point, that image we linked up there is of K'arishkali, who even then was an Air element Dexterity Mission pet. Why did he have Int? We just don't know. To be fair, I was less than a month into using sylestia at that point)

(Without Level Up points it is far easier to discuss how people can improve or alter their pet setups if they're having trouble, too, no more quibbling over 'oh, you could put 20 lvpoints in x and 100 in y and 14 in z and 6 in w')

I didn't realize the old system was replaced! I like the proficiency system a lot, I thought that it had always been in place while the potential for further stat growth was removed. This makes a lot of sense now. That stat system reminds me of putting countless time into old RPGs with similar systems. One of the things I like about this game is that it's fairly simple and easy to learn, as some other games have about the same depth presented in a more complicated way.

oooh boy, I'd forgotten...
Here are some more pictures of the old system:

The new system is far easier to use.
With the old one, each element had HP X/10, Str X/10 or Int X/10, and Dex X/10 or Agi X/10, and attacks had rank 1 X/5, rank 2 X/1, rank 3 X/1.
New attacks were gained with how many Prof. points you had used... or unlocked?, I do believe? So you were stuck with basic non-elemental attacks until lv25, and got the second elemental attack at lv50? As opposed to the current elemental attack 1 at lv0, attack 2 at 30, attack 3 at 60 etc.
Because along with the level up/prof system overhaul, the attacks were also overhauled, and the new rank system- where you can get attack exp by using the attack/defeating opponents in the Lost Grove to level up attack rank- was implemented (previously you had to spend prof points to level them, as seen in the second image, the one of Fiammata's stuff.)

You'd pick your elemental assignment, which would tell the system what attacks the pet would be using and if it was running off of Physical or Magical damage. But you could, say assign a pet to Shadow element, then flip over to Earth tab and give the pet 10/10 Str instead of 10/10 Int (woich would be stupid and pretty pointless, but... you could do it.)

You had 12 points to use, and assigning all the points to a single stat (10/10 in their element, swap to a different element tab and go 2/10 in the same stat there) was pretty common.

Most people didn't ever put any points into levelling attacks because they were just... better spent in the base stats (Fia up there had her Fireball levelled because we just really liked being able to hit all three opponents at once with fire)

Well ik this is stupid and all... but I'm kinda rlly confused/annoyed. I want to expand my party- I already did it once and know where you do it. However, for some reason, I can't expand my party for a second time... someone please tell me why it won't work and how I can expand it-without it trying to not let me expand it-almost failed last battle cuz only 2 pets~

Thx to anyone who tries to explain/help.

Hey! I joined roughly 24 hours ago, and though I'm loving Sylestia, I'm kind of stumbling around lost... :/ I have many questions, but here are just a few of the more "urgent" ones:

1. I had just accepted my second(?) quest, but had to log out for reasons, assuming I could start it later. When I came back, I could not for the life of me figure out of to start/resume the quest. Since that wasn't working, I decided to do a different quest. The quest involved exploring "Trollsblight Cavern". The only problem is... I have no idea where in Sylestia (See what I did there~ [Insert Lenny Face here] ) that was, and I could not for the life of me find it on the unlocked map sections... If someone could please tell HOW to resume/start accepted quests, and WHERE TrollsBlight Cavern is, I will forever be indebted to them. Sorry to trouble you! I am full of questions... >w<

Racoon619:
Party can be expanded to two pets at Esior's Haven, but expanding to three slots can only be done at Sanctuary of Saerielle, in the second region

Theperytonwhisperer:
Your quests should all be recorded here.
Quests don't need to be 'resumed', they're just there, in the background, constantly active until such time as you complete them.

For Trollsblight, you go to the World Map, click Viridian Meadows, and it should be at the top middle of the map once you get the Trollsblight mission.
