David
David tried the handle. When he found it was locked, he whispered to Victor, "Stand back, I'm kicking it open." David looked at the door for a moment, then kicked the door near the handle, and it flew open.

Maria:

The little girl looked frightened as the door to the room flew open, she looked horrified at this. " W-whose there?! " Her voice was raw from crying, and her tears stained her cheeks. She was scared, she thought they were here to hurt her. She stood on shaky legs, clutching a teddy bear to her chest. Victor quickly lowered his weapon and got to one knee so he was at the little girls height. " It's okay, we heard you crying and wanted to see who was there but the door was locked. "

David
David sheathed the sword, and turned around, leaning against the door frame, one hand on his pistol.

Maria:

" W-why are you here? Who are you? " Victor was speaking softly to the little girl as to not scare her. " We were looking for some stuff that we needed, my name is Victor, what's your name? " The girl seemed cautious but quietly said " Maria.. " Victor nodded " Where are your parents? " Now the child became nervous again " Me and my daddy were out walking around but I got lost... do you know where he is? " Victor shook his head and sighed " No I am sorry Maria I do not know where he is... Me and my friend were just looking for stuff. You shouldn't stay here, come with us. " Maria now looked scared again " Daddy said not to go with strangers.. " Victor sighed yet again " Well do you want to be alone? "

David
Hearing Victor's ultimatum, David pulled Victor out, saying, "Guard," and squatted in front of the little girl, before gently saying, "Maria, please, listen to me. We have food, water, safety. We have weapons we can protect you with. Also, I'm sure your father would understand if you went with us. There are others, though, that would kidnap you and do horrible things to you. You have my word as a member of the Army that you will not be harmed in any way by myself or my friends."

Victor:

He nodded and stood guard as David talked to Maria. Maria listened and calmed down a little, nodding her head. " A-alright.. Mom used to say that the Army was only good people and to always trust them so I trust you mister.. " She sounded a little unsure, but now she didn't seem so scared of going with them. " I can bring my teddy, right? "

David
"Of course you can," David replied warmly.

Maria:

She smiled happily and now walked right up next to them showing no fear as they seemed very safe, her bear still held in her arms. " Thank you Mister and Victor.. I didn't wanna stay in the room anymore. It was cold. " Victor looked to David " Do we have everything we need? "

David
David picked up Maria, setting her on his left hip, and said, "We've got plenty."

Maria:

She smiled and laughed in a way only a child could, a sound that was almost too distance in the past to even be imagined anymore. Victor again nodded and took the lead, making sure to guard them both well as they left the building.
