I can do that! she says, jumping up. You want me to go now? I can sniff them out. It'll be fun!

"Sure warn them first what's going on please," I ask her.

You wrest it out from the ridge, but realise that you've cut yourself on the object when you feel a spark of pain from your finger. Blood beads on the cut, but luckily the object does seem to be a key. For some reason it has a sharp edge that was deliberately positioned to make getting it out of the ridge a literal pain... for anyone who wasn't expecting it.

The edge seems to be coated in something that gleams in the moonlight. You must have gotten some of it in your cut, too...

Oh, no! No, no, no! This cannot be good!

Delirious reals back in pain and closely examines that cut. She quickly wiped her finger across her side trying to remove any blood or anything else that may currently be dwelling inside the tiny cut. She decided she'd do something about it after she'd completed her task. She examines the sharp object again and tries to get it out if it is even possible to do so.

He chuckles. "That you are, but in the wrong place. This area has been mined already, and no more seams have been found. Didn't you realise when there were no other Dwarves mining around you? Plus you're going to give yourself a cave-in, mining with no supports like that. You'd better come out now, cave-ins can happen at any time."

Knight pads alongside you.

The nearest food stall is selling strips of jerky, very handy for long journeys. The tubby Dwarf that runs this stall looks at you with a little respect.

"Saw what you did there, lad," he says. "Seems I... judged you wrongly, when I first saw you. You wanting some new supplies?"

In your hands, the egg looks small and fragile. Skywhisper hesitates a second before clambering out of the space, the sound of him making his way further up the tree getting quieter until it disappeared altogether.

Alone besides the egg, sounds of the forest outside bounce around the recess in the tree. You realise how nice it is in here, and how safe and cozy it feels.

The egg rocks a little in your hands as the chick inside moves. It's nice to know that the runt is alive, at least for now. Anything can happen while the eggling is still developing inside.

Could do, but just to warn you first... Emberpaw, Sunfeather and Blazetalon probably will never trust a Goblin. They all came from the Southern territories, and from birth are always taught to never trust Goblins or Orcs, she tells you, her eyes serious for once. But I'll go and tell them in any case - we don't have any other options if we want to get over the bridge.

She bounds off, running round peoples ankles until she disappeared into the forest.

Numbat comes up to you, his money pouch hidden away somewhere and his knives strapped all over him. He had a large pack over his shoulder, and seemed to be used to the weight of it and his weapons. "So... when's she coming back?"

(Noperoonies - but it's time for things to start getting a bit more difficult for you all >:D)

Your finger feels a little numb, but besides that appears to be fine. You got most of the slick substance off, but you know that even a little bit of it could be in your bloodstream now.

Hopefully not poison. But there isn't much you can do about it right now.

The key finally slides free in your hand. It is made of the same metal as the door, and has a matching marking on the side of it as there is above the lock.

"Give Cinder some time," I reply, "I should warn you now most likely the familiars won't agree since three of them are from the Southern territories. Cinder told me that and also they were warned from birth not to trust Goblins or Orcs. If they don't want to let you come with us I can still put in a good word for you in the Elvan towns and capital." I remember then about the Onyx Moon Clan, "By the way I saw the Onyx Moon Clan in the Northern territories in the meadow."
