2024 Autumn Festival - Avatar Item Design - 15/9/24
My submission, Dream Walker
We did it!!! Kinda!!! Dream Walker is partially in game - Cultist set horns, wings, tail, and aspect!
It's kinda wack how the most obvious measure of my progress with art is through looking at my avatar item submissions over time. It's harder to see in these images because of all the colours but without all the details, I can see that my method of shading clothing has greatly improved. Hair is a definite improvement - compare my Starseeker submissions flat mess to this and yeah, this is amazing. There's actual volume to it, and it looks cleaner than the hair of the Dulcet Sprite submissions. I'm extremely happy with how these came out, though it's clear that I have to work on use of colour because some combinations create a very messy view with unclear silhouettes.
Also! First time trying to shade fur properly! Did not go well, but from a distance it looks pretty good. Ignore how I accidentally removed the shading layer for the held hound before I submitted lmao

Your art is so, so good my goodness. This pumpkin is unreal bro, the shading is excellent and I love the way you do lineart! The level of detail you put into all your pieces is breathtaking too! You're def an inspiration to me, your style is beautiful!

Fun stuff, got to practice rendering clothing again! The arms/sleeves look a bit disproportionate in length but rip, found out too late after I'd rendered everything. It looks alright, I guess. (Just don't look too hard lol.) I feel the contrasts are off in some places so I'll definitely have to work on values and shading for future pieces.

It has been quite a few months, but I'm finally doing art again!
Tried a few new things with this piece, most notably the more detailed cloth shading. I'm still not quite there with shading in general and the folds don't really make sense since I'm just painting blobs of shadow and hoping they look right but overall it came out nice. I definitely need more practice lol

2024 Spring Festival - Avatar Item Design - 15/2/24
My submission, Far Traveller
This outfit was very fun to design! I had the idea of migratory birds in my head for a long time so I was very happy to finally put it to use, and as well as a headpiece image I saw somewhere that I took inspiration from for all the gold chains/beads accessories. The colours were colour picked from an image of a Wallcreeper, so I made it my goal to colour the outfit in a way that looked nice using the 70/30 rule while also staying true to the colour placements on the bird itself. It came out amazing! Those mountains at the bottom of the robes look so good imo.
My favourite part of this outfit as well as what I'm most proud of is definitely the bird dragon. Look at this thing.
It came out much better than I expected it would, especially since I'm not that good at drawing dragons.
