Maveric nodded. "Yeah, we've met a lot of people, and so far you're the only one that I've let speak to her. You seem so much more trustworthy than those other kids."

" I just respect people. If I didn't I would be long dead. I am in no place to kill what is left of humans alive or hurt them either is what I guess I am trying to say. " He said as he leaned back on a wall behind him, he looked awfully tired but refused to sleep for some reason. " So you said you wanted to go into town when morning comes right? Mind if I tag along? "

"Sure, no problem. You probably know this place way better than me or Lani." Maveric ran a hand over his face, then asked, "Do you think that the zombies ever die without having to have people kill them? I'm not sure if that makes any sense or not."

He thought for a moment about the question and he himself became puzzled by it. " What an interesting question.. I never even thought of it. They might? I think eventually they rot so much they really do die so probably yes. "

"Good, because it would be horrible to have those things around for forever. So what's your weapon of choice?" Maveric asked, figuring he might as well.

" I would say my fists but that won't do me no good anymore. I guess close ranged then? Maybe a baseball bat.. or a branch. Not good with long range weapons at all. " He said wondering if he would even be able to find any of those things anymore.. Nonetheless he spoke the truth about what he could and couldn't use if he so happened to have to fight.

"Cool. Personally, I would go for a bow and arrows. Or a slingshot with heavy rocks." Maveric used to go hunting before he moved here.

" I see.. You seem like you would be good with those kinds of things. I mean I would need a lot of practice to use something like that. It would be a real challenge. " He paused for a moment as he heard something.... a long low growl accompanied by banging at the walls and door. He knew what was here and he was scared. " Oh no... they heard us.. " He said in now a low whisper. " We have to get to a safer room I am not sure the walls could hold out. ' He said worriedly.

Maveric jumped to his feet and nodded. He tried to decide whether to wake up Lani...on one hand, there were zombies outside that could possibly get in and eat her. On the other hand, Lani might wake up and scream, and that was the last thing they needed. He decided to wake her up, even though she would be pissed at him. "Lani, Lani, you gotta get up!" She woke up and grumbled, "Five more minutes." "No, you gotta get up now!" Lani glared at him, but stood up sleepily."

Victor started to push whatever furniture he could to the doors and other weak points of the house, he moved the food box and whatever other supplies to the bedroom of the house, deciding that since it had a lock it was the best choice of where to barricade themselves. The banging, growling, and loud groaning got louder from outside the house. " Come on quickly! I am not sure this place can take this bad a beatin'! "
