The soldier looks sympathetic. You realise that he, too, is a Centaur, but you didn't notice before because the rain was blurring your sight. "I'll walk you to the best Centaur healer I know. Follow me," he says, trotting away into the town.

The Wyvern follows as the Centaur militia leads you through winding and cobbled-together streets. You only take a few turns before he stops outside one of the houses, which has the bottom floor converted into a small hospital. "She'll take care of him while you find a place to park your cart. You can find free spaces in the centre of town, there is no parking fee for adventurers in the Adventurer's Crossing. May you have good passage," he says by way of farewell, nodding to you and galloping off down the street again.

"Can I get some help, please?" Balthur says from the back. "My leg's playing up in the humid weather. I don't think I'll be able to get down from the cart."

You make it there without much trouble; there may be lots of people, but they're moving through pretty quickly. There are plenty of guards, each checking carts in pairs, so things don't stop for more than a few seconds.

A guard looks you and Skywhisper over, immediately noticing the Griffins coveted egg. "Adopting are you? I did the same - only one of them hatched though. But my daughter loved the little runt all the same. He grew up to be just as big as the rest." He waves you through the gate. "Safe travels - hope your egg hatches."

I wave good bye and go down the road.

"Thanks, son," he says, squinting in the bucketing rain. "Let's not stay out here for long, I think my bandage is so soggy it's about to come off."

His bandage is indeed not as secure as it was before, and is stained a little red. He must have opened his wound again at some point.

The Wyvern cries out, urging you to get inside quickly.

You could always fly if you wanted to. Skywhisper is unsaddled, but you can still ride him. You would just need to keep a hold on the egg while he flies, and make sure you're not going to fall off. It wouldn't be that risky, and you would have the benifits of a bird's eye view and Skywhisper's speed.

When the two of you stumble in, a Centaur rushes up to you both. "What happened to you?" you hear her say as she helps you take Balthur over to a raised slab on the floor, where he sits with a wince of pain.

Now you get a better look, you see that you're in a small-ish room, with six of the raised slabs on the floor, cushioned with hay. There are desks and cupboards sitting against the walls, all covered in potions and tools strewn messily around.

The Centaur healer looks at Balthur's flank and gasps sharply, peeling away his bandage. "Where on Anaia did you get this kind of wound? I looks like an arrow injury to me."

The three of them nod, and they jump into the sky. The Phoenix fly downriver while Shootingstar flies upriver.

I suppose now we wait, Crimson sniffs, padding over to the riverbank. She looks at her reflection in wonder, but refrains from touching the water. You remember the reason she told you before: when she comes into contact with water, she loses some of the fire she keeps within herself.

I watch Crimson, "Don't worry you won't get wet even if I have to carry you and Emberpaw across."

Balthur pivots round, looking at the healer more closely, confusion over his features. She goes over to one of the counters, picking up a few tools and bits and pieces before turning. For the first time, she looks Balthur in the face and frowns along with him.

"Haven't I... seen you from somewhere?" she trails off, as if unsure of herself.

"I don't know. You just seem so... familiar," Balthur stumbles on the word.

You look between them. In fact, she does look familiar to you, too. Her features aren't dissimilar from Balthur. Her horse-half's pelt is almost exactly the same, the colour of her hair...

"Balthur?" she asks hesitantly.

"Malindi!" he exclaims, stumbling as he tries to get up. "I haven't seen you in-"

"Hold on, hold on," she says firmly, rushing over and getting him to sit on the slab again. "We can talk later. For now, I want you to stay still until I fix your shoddily patched up wound. You might have gotten it infected already."

"I still have your disinfecting and pain-relief solution, I'll be fine," Balthur smile is brighter than any you've ever seen from him. He turns to you, as if remembering you're there. "Come back here when you've parked the cart. Our Wyvern friend too, he's big but he'll manage to get in here and out of the rain."
