Maveric shook his head. "Sorry about that, man. What about your family? What happened to them? If you don't mind me asking, of course." Lani hugged herself, looking out the window. She couldn't see much, except for darkness and zombies. She felt bad for the domestic animals, not understanding what happened to their owners.

He sighed deeply. " Ma died back when I was 15 and pa left the city when this started. My brother and Sister went with him. Never were around in the first place really. This was the family home, but the mattresses are being used as barricades and I only kept one inside along with the couch but that is uncomfortable but beggars can't be choosers now can they? "

"Do you think that your family could still be alive?" Maveric asked, realizing that it sounded like he was interrogating Victor. "Sorry about all the questions, I'm just curious." Lani's eyelids were drooping, and she tried to stay up.

He chuckled lightheartedly, clearly not minding the questions. " Nah I get it, questions should always be asked. Yeah I think they made it out there. Or at least one of them did. " Victor glanced at Lani and smiled a little. " Hey Lani, you could just sleep. Nothing is gonna get in. " He said the words calmly before looking back to Maverick.

She nodded and leaned against the wall, too tired to get up. She slowly fell asleep. Maveric jumped at every noise, knowing that he wouldn't be able to sleep tonight. "So, how long have you been here?" He asked, trying to distract himself from what was going on outside.

" Well I came to this city when I was around 10 and have been here since, so around 8 years. I know this part of the city well not so much the other parts. It is nice but I want to map out the entire city and clear it out of supplies, find a running car, and get out of here. What about you? "

"Me and my family moved here not that long ago. Only two years ago. Before this, we lived in a small town, where everyone knew each other and nobody bullied each other and all that. Basically, a utopia compared to this place. There were only about 300 some people, but there was a cafe, a pizza place, a mini-store, and a bar. It was all we needed, except the only work you could do was either work at one of those places, the school, or farm. We didn't make enough money for all five of us, so Dad found a job here and so we moved."

Victor nodded with a small smile " Sounds heavenly.. I never have even been to a place like that in my life. I wish I had found somewhere like that years ago. Maybe more people survived there. What happen to the rest of your family if you don't mind me asking? "

"My mom died from cancer almost as soon as we moved here and my dad is now a zombie. As for Cash, well, he...he killed himself."

" Oh... man.. I am so sorry for your loses.. I just wanted to say you should protect your sister well then. She doesn't seem to understand what really is going on in this place now.. Seems like a sweet gal but really there are bad people now who could easily trick her and get away with it. "
