Jay could understand that well enough himself so he tried to keep quiet while he preened. With his back turned to the rest of the area though, he didn't realize when eyes turned their way. Staring from under the shaded bushes, the yellow eyes watched. Curious? Angry? In the warm afternoon light, they both looked the same and Jay was obvious to it all.

August blinked. "Wait, wait, I think I see something...!" He called down.

Scarlet slept on oblivious to the staring eyes.

The eyes kept watching as Jay hopped from the water, feeling refreshed. When the air hit his wet feathers though, he found himself shivering, turning around, but finding nothing watching. Only the faint rustle of bushes gave any hint that something might be there. "Scarlet," he murmured, landing next to the fox's paws and giving them a nudge. "Wake up, Scarlet. I'm not sure that we're alone." Nothing was jumping out of the bushes, but still...

One eye opened and glared at Jay, "You had better have a good reason for waking me up." Scarlet's other eye opens and looks around, "Are you sure you're not just getting parinoid? If you want I'll take a walk around and see whose there."

Huffing, Jay puffed himself up out of indignation. "I'm not the one who went running off in a fit before. I'm not paranoid. There was something there!" He couldn't see anything, but still. After all that happened today, he didn't trust friends or enemies not to be lurking in the bushes. "You can go back to sleep after you check over there. On the other side of the pond, I'm sure of it!"

"I am fully awake so there no back to sleeping after I check," Scarlet growls and goes to slip around the pond to the other side, "Jay fly up and see if you can see anything please." She was not bothering for stealth as the eyes had already seen her.

Jay drooped a bit at Scarlet's words, but still flew up to look around. It really didn't look like whatever was here before stuck around so he regretted waking Scarlet. All he really wanted was confirmation that he hadn't imagined it though. "Um, I don't see anything except a couple of bugs, ah, and there are small tracks near the water's edge. They lead away." At that, Jay dropped down to rest against a branch. At least whoever it was seemed to have left?

"Tracks what kind of tracks and how far away from me," Scarlet asks, "Does it look like my tracks or bigger? If smaller tell me as well." Scarlet puts her nose to the ground to get a scent on what the eyes had been from.

Jay flew down lower so he could get a better look. "They look smaller, though bigger than a mouse's. Maybe closer in size to a cat?" He didn't think he'd ever seen the exact shape though so he wasn't sure. Whatever did make the tracks wasn't familiar. The prints were too spread out from each other. "Go closer to that tree trunk and you should be able to see them."
