We of the Caldus tribe monitor all young animals, and when one appears to have been abandoned, we take care of it. We had not seen the mother in a couple of days. That being said, once we track her down and kill her, we will take care of the cub and teach it its basic necessities before releasing it back into the wild," she explained.

With the situation beginning to calm down, Malak was able to better process all of the new information he was receiving. He had grown up hearing tales of magic and magical creatures in other parts of the world. Occasionally, performers would travel through their desert tribe and some would be able to perform feats of magic, and once even when he was little, he had seen a pixie traveling through. He would never forget how in awe he was of how beautiful the pixie had been, and how spectacular her wings had been.
"I see," Malak responded, his brows furrowing in concern as he watched yet another feather fall from her wings, "Pardon me, but...is that normal?" He nodded at the pile of leaves that were now liberally mixed with feathers.

Frowning, the pixie kicked a pile of feathers. She sighed and ran a hand through her messy braid. "Not in the slightest," she answered, her frail wings fluttering down by her side.

Malak was beginning to get frustrated. He was not accustomed to conversing with someone who was not in the habit of answering his questions to the fullest, especially a woman. He huffed a sigh, spun on his heels and sat down gracefully on a large tree root. He regarded thoughtfully.
"So," he started slowly, trying to pick his words carefully, "I'm afraid I am completely unaware of the ways of other races and cultures. If it is unusual for your feathers to be falling, and you seem upset by it, should you not seek help from your tribe?"

The woman raised her eyebrows slightly at your slight frustration. She still had her arms stubbornly crossed over her chest. "Why should I? My clan's the reason for it," she responded rather simply.

There was so much about this situation that still made Malak feel discomfited, but he was finding himself more and more relaxed as he studied the pixie woman. She wasn't just unlike any woman he had ever met in his life, she was unlike any person in general, and though she was very frustratingly stubborn, he found her company not unpleasant.
"You are very unusual," he told her leaning his back against the trunk of his tree and taking a sip from his waterskin, "I ask you a question and you only leave me with more. Could you perhaps explain to me how your clan is responsible for what is happening to you? And why they cannot help you?"

A slow smirk spread across the pixie's lips at your intrigue. Her molting wings shuddered slightly, the feathers ruffling together. "My clan exiled me," she replied, just as simply as she always does.
