Lani shrugged it off. She asked Victor as the new kid handed the lighter over, "could you do it? I don't have the guts to set Emma on fire..." Maveric put a hand on Lanis shoulder.
Alaska found a car with a quarter of a tank left. She figured that a quarter was better than none. She hot wired the car, and it started

He took the lighter " Thank you. " He said as he looked back to the dog then to Lani. He sighed " Of course I can " He said softly to her, after waiting a few moments he said. " Are you ready to say goodbye to her Lani? " He asked in a calm voice not wanting to rush her.

She nodded. She crouches over Emmas body, and she would have pet her, but she decided against it. "I'll see you in the next life," she said, smiling sadly as she stood

Victor said a small silent prayer and crouched to his knees, setting the body afire and standing back up. Soon the body was engulfed in flames, he held his head low in respect and hoped that Lani would be alright, though he knew this would affect her badly. Roger stood by Lani's leg and pawed at it, trying to comfort her.

Lani stared into the fire, smiling through silent tears at his attempt. Maveric said loud enough for everyone to hear, "Emma was a good dog. She was always right by Lani's side, through the thick and the thin. She was so protective of her owner that whenever anybody she didn't know came over, she would bark her head off." He said, kind of like someone at a funeral, sharing their memories of the dead.
Alaska saw smoke. Smoke meant fire, and fire meant humans. No zombie could light a fire even if their life depended on it. She abandoned the car, as it was too big to fit through the allyways and backstreets she was taking to the fire.

Victor noticed Lani crying and it broke his heart a little. He got a paper flower from his pocket and gently placed it nearby to the fire. Not so close that it would burn, but not so far that it wouldn't have a meaning. He took a bunch of small rocks and spelt out the words beside the flower ' In loving memory of Emma. ' so if thy should return here, maybe the stones were still there and they could revisit the 'grave' later on. He then called Roger over, who sat silently at his masters leg. " I am so sorry you two.. "

Maveric shrugged but didn't say anything. Lani smiled at the flower, then went back to staring into the fire. She had stopped crying, using her good hand to wipe away the tears still on her cheeks. She stood and took a deep breath then said, "we should keep moving. We shouldn't stay in one place for too long."
Alaska adjusted her baseball cap, and rounded a corner, seeing the fire. The flame was big enough that she didn't see any people. Surely they were on the other side of the fire, right? The only weapon she had was a bat, and she hadn't found any nails that she could put into the bat. If there was a bunch of zombies on the other side, she was gonna be so mad at herself

" You're right we gotta keep goin'. " He said picking up roger and the box. " It's a shame we didn't find a book bag. " He knew it would of made it much easier with one but they would manage.. He looked to Maveric for a moment, he seemed calm about all this so he doubted there was any danger around. " I know a faster way into town. " he said as he started walking towards main street.
