To be blunt, really anything could skew the balance, Chaos says. To stay here is against your world, but to go back would remove something from here. Although, I suppose "balance" is a subjective term, so. . .

"I would rather try to find something with little to no chance of failure," Zandaka replies, despite not being talked to directly. "We have plenty of time to work with?"

"Do we, though?" Shiawase asks, voice tense. "The alternate Hitari - we didn't even see him coming. It's like. . .possession. Doesn't that mean that at any moment the same could happen to any of us?"

Well, yes, Chaos answers. Excluding me and Isorin, as I am the only version of me, and he does not have a version of himself in that first world. With the amount of sheer will and power it takes to leave or enter this place, I would say only those from the original place can reach us.

"We can open the gate fully to them, or close it," Zandaka says. "The first-worlders, if you will. Either way they will flood this place at one point. If we do open it. . .well, perhaps everything will quiet down."

"Quiet down"? What is that supposed to mean? Itami asks, folding his arms. You think everything'd be better as a single world, just like him? Do you have any idea how complicated this would all get -

"You do not control these things, and I recommend you stop talking," she says sharply. "I do, and I can see how many problems would be solved. We can make a haven out of the best parts of all the versions this universe carries."

Shiawase pales. "You. . .you agree with exactly what the other Hitari kept saying. . .but you're supposed to keep everything balanced!"

"And I am, by refreshing everything."

Rin shrinks back from the argument, realizing what Chaos and Zandaka are implying. It makes sense, but at the same time it's...... ah..... a less-than-appealing option.

"Once everything - and everyone - is together, even the Creator will want to join us," Zandaka continues. "And their presence alone is stronger than any force in the multiverse. For all I know, when that final world comes to be, it'll never fade. Does such a thing not sound wonderful?"

A permanent world means any issues will also be staying, Itami says angrily. And I can guarantee some people, including me, would love to cause problems in your "ideal world".

"Then let the vermin be flung in a pit," Zandaka replies. Itami, rather shocked by it all, lapses into silence.

I must say - not that I agree - that an event like this would be rather interesting, Chaos says. But we mustn't let it be.

Clever, Zandaka thinks. Rather smart to lure them into thinking you are with them, although it's a bit late to start that ruse. The sacrifice of equilibrium will be worth it. "One way or another, it will bring itself here."

Hitari quietly groans and cracks his eyelids open, all the talking and whatnot waking him. Sitting up at an angle, he winces and holds his head. "_{Ugh, my head feels like it's wrapped in chains -} "

Everyone stills. Zandaka watches him keenly, wondering what Hitari'll do when he notices what's happening around him.

Rin jumps a little, moving in closer to the rest subconsciously. He's not quite as afraid with everyone else at the scene, but he's still a little on edge.

Hitari gradually raises his glazed eyes to everyone staring at him. " - uh."

"Hitari. . ." Shiawase softly.

"Finally awake, hm?" Zandaka asks, leaning down to make their gazes even. "I think we need to talk."

He pales and shifts back a little. ". . ._{Zans. . .?} Uh, why - how are you - " He looks around and returns back to looking at her. "You're not the right one."

For a moment, Zandaka looks confused, but soon realizes what he meant. "Don't worry, yours can be here too. But you need Chaos back, you know."

"No - no," he replies, fully sitting up. "No to both - Zans doesn't need to be here - "

'Zans'? Rin thinks, slightly confused. Don't tell me..... this world's Hitari has a crush on Shiawase. Is this one..... close to Zandaka? He gulps. Either way, somehow I don't see this ending well.

"Stop wallowing in the past and put your head in the present," Zandaka says to Hitari, her voice low as she leans closer. "And then, maybe your future will be bright." Pulling back, she nods to Chaos. "Come on, help him."

This is the only part I'll play in this, the rest is fully your doing, Chaos murmurs, hoping Zandaka doesn't take it seriously. They hover near Hitari (who stares wide-eyed), tunneling towards and into him like a colander mixed with a funnel.

Hitari blinks and looks at Zandaka. Before anyone can do anything, he hurls himself at her, pinning her to the ground by her throat as he kneels on the dry earth beside her. "What are you doing here," he hisses. "I was told you had left years ago."

"Your informant is unreliable, because he can only tell what he knows," she replies, not even out of breath. "They do say to trust yourself the least, no?"

I'm not sure if this is better, or worse, Itami grumbles to you. On one hand, he's no longer a teetering fool. But, on the other, he's himself again, and still appears to be fully in control over ours.

"Greeeeeeeaaaat," Rin grumbles. "So let me guess. We just hope we don't get destroyed in the aftermath."

If I've learned anything, it's that knocking someone out is the best option, Itami mutters. But I don't think that'd work very well in this case.

"I would recommend you release me," Zandaka says. "This benefits neither of us."

Hitari tentatively lets her go. ". . .I know you're not her, so. . .what do you want, and why?"

"We have very similar plans," she replies, sitting up. "Not necessarily the same goal, but the point still stands. I'm sure Chaos could tell you more."

Alright, Itami says quietly as he grabs you and Shiawase by the hand. Come on. We're gonna leave. I don't think this is a good trio to stick around.

"No kidding," Rin replies nervously.
