A few minutes pass, and the party of three draw near. You see Shiawase, a dark, inky blob you assume to be Chaos, and another one you've never seen before - this must be Zandaka.

She has overflowing curly hair, cascading over her shoulders in a bronzish-gold sheen. Her eyes are startling - to be exact, Zandaka has heterochromia. Her left eye is a deep-sea blue, veined with purple; her right, a warm orange laced with dark yellow. The effect is. . .strikingly odd, lightly put.

Itami clears his throat. Uh, hi.

Zandaka nods stiffly to him, then turns to you. "You must be. . .Rin, was it?"

Zandaka looks at you, interested. "I expected the breaches to be. . .different. Hm."

"Oh, leave him be," Shiawase says. "Rin's very nice, Zandaka - and I'm sure at some point he'll have fun questions for you." She smiles at you. "I'm not sure if Itami told you anything about Zandaka, but she's very knowledgeable."

That's a word for it, Chaos says. Their voice is dense and a bit chilling, like if black ice were to speak. She even may know how to solve the. . .ongoing problems.

"Yes, yes," Zandaka waves her hand dismissively. "First, where is Hitari?"

Itami silently points at the sleeping lad.

". . .mm. He. . .doesn't seem very threatening, but he has potential," she murmurs, as if she's thinking to herself. "This could be interesting."

Interesting? Rin thinks (rather peevishly). Interesting if you're the one watching and not the prime target. He knows that probably isn't fair, but after the experience earlier that day he had become a little touchy on the topic of Hitari.

Zandaka walks over to Hitari. Leaning down a little, she gives him a light, smart slap.

Itami sucks in an unneeded sharp breath, expecting. . .he doesn't know, an explosion? Hitari to wake up and just. . .eh, who knows. It doesn't really matter, as Hitari doesn't react at all.

"Why is he asleep?" Zandaka asks, straightening up. "There has been no fight and he has no lack of energy." She turns to Itami. "I expect you out of everyone here would have the answer."

Oh, uh, he stammers. How about you direct that over to Chaos? Itami waves his hand at them. I assumed their absence was part of the reason, so. . .

Dependency, Chaos says. And, although I would not like to admit it, he did, in a way, trick me into leaving. My curiosity seems to override my logical thinking. Inexperience of the foreigner could also be a piece of it - he would have had no reason to expect the vessel to react.

"Why would he try to get Chaos to leave?" Shiawase asks. "There's. . .there's no reason, even if that isn't our Hitari. . ."

"The more important question is how the alternate found their way here," Zandaka says coolly. "Chaos has said their holding of the gate is firm; therefore something is lacking on the side of Order. I would not be surprised if they are trying to strike against you, Chaos."

My, how thrilling, Chaos thinks. I never imagined this could be a chance to take a kind of vengeance against that. . .that other. This could be a wonderful way to make everything fall apart.

Now that you have said that, nor would I, they say aloud. Perhaps we should find a way to ensure there are no holes in this plane. And, ah, find a way to return the breaches?

Rin watches the two nervously, not sure he quite knows what they're talking about. Hopefully, it doesn't entail a bad end for himself.

"Returning things to where they belong is the least demanding problem at the moment," Zandaka says, shaking her head. "Besides, as long as the gate is open, trying to do so would pose too great a risk for those associated. At best, they'd just fall back in. After all, we're essentially at the bottom of the pit."

Great, so let's go ahead and close everything, Itami grumbles. I don't know how much I'd like it if others got here.

"This one was from a rather high place," Zandaka continues, prodding Hitari with her foot. "The greater the fall, the wider the gap must be for them to enter. So, Itami, it is quite likely you'll have to deal with such a thing."

"Isn't that bad?" Shiawase asks. "Hitari - the wrong one - said he intended to 'cleanse' this world, but from how he said it, I think he meant 'erase'. If others from his world get here, wouldn't the danger of that happening be bigger?"

"That's assuming they share his ideology."

For now, we must wait, Chaos says. And see what falls upon us - which reminds me. You feel their attention turn to you. There is the pressing matter of what you would like to happen to yourself, child.

"M-me?" Rin points to himself. "I...... don't really know how things work around here. I suppose.... at best, if it were possible for me to go home, but after all this," He shrugs, "I don't even know if such a place exists." Rin swallows hard. "Whatever is least likely to screw with the balance of the universe, I guess."
