Sylestivale seemed like the perfect town, with everything most people could ever ask for: peace and quiet from the outside world, a picturesque view of the seaside, friendly neighbors, an extremely uncreative town name, cheap houses, and extremely interesting stories about recent murders!
Wait... what? You weren't sure about the last part, but it was too late to turn back now-- there was nowhere else to go, seeing as you had already bought the house, and, you realized as you walked up to the house, the mayor had arrived just to greet you.
"Welcome to Sylestivale, you must be the new resident! I'm Lark, and I'm the local omniscient narrator god, er, mayor of Sylestivale. You're the first new resident in awhile, though I can't imagine why... Anyways, inside your house, you'll find a form, just so we can keep track of everyone, and for liability purposes. Just fill that out and you're officially--
What? Rumours about murders, you say? That's strange, we haven't had a murder in several days. I'm sure it's really nothing to worry about. Anyways, don't forget to fill out your form, enjoy your stay, and try not to die!"
And just like that, the mayor hurried off, and you were left with your house keys in hand or foot or paw, wondering if your decision to move here was really such a good idea after all.

Welcome to Mafia! If you don't already know how the game works, here's a rundown and some rules (please read even if already know the game, I am specifying certain things):
1. There are two main factions/sides, Mafia or Town. The Mafia win the game if the number of Townsfolk is reduced to the number of Mafia at the current time. The Town wins the game if all of the Mafia-aligned are eliminated before this can happen.
2. Everyone is assigned a role at random. The roles used may vary from game to game, but the ones we are going to be using (and their descriptions) are listed below. You may not disclose your roles to anyone, with the exception being during the day trial, where you may attempt to reveal your role to prove your innocence or achieve some other effect-- though keep in mind that this may come with negative consequences, and obviously, you can lie about your role. Roles are not truthfully disclosed by me until the game ends one way or another.
3. There are two phases to the game, the night phase and day phase. During the night, the thread is theoretically silent and closed, and everyone with a role that acts during the night may DM me to act. (Mafia must agree on a target first, but no one else is allowed to reveal their actions.)
During the day, a trial is held "in public" (on the thread). In the trial, everyone first learns the results of the night (who was killed or not), then a discussion is allowed to decide the next course of action. During the discussion, anyone may nominate a suspect whom they believe is the Mafia, who will then attempt to defend themselves. This may happen multiple times for everyone who is nominated. After this, everyone still alive is able to vote on someone to eliminate via DM to me, if wanted. The suspect with the majority of the votes (and at least 3 votes, if there are 5+ people) is eliminated. During the trial, do not ping anyone unless you are nominating them or directly replying to something they said. I'll take care of the notifying, I don't want anyone to be spammed.
Each phase lasts up to 48 hours in real time. If you have a role and do not act during the night (except for the Mafia, who are required to act), you will be ignored and miss your turn (hopefully you don't). If you do not vote during the day, you will also be ignored, but you can also choose not to vote.
4. There are multiple ways to "die" during the game: either be killed at night, or be eliminated during the day. If you die, you are no longer allowed to participate in in-game discussion on the thread (however, you may make out of game remarks by using parentheses to say things such as "oh no", and you can obviously talk once the game is over).
5. We require 10 people to start, but up to 20 may join before signups close (on a date TBD). There may be future rounds, but now it's just this. Put the word apple in the form somewhere if you read the rules, which I hope you did.
6. Mild roleplaying during the day phase is encouraged, but not necessary. (Like, if you're accused during the trial, you can act as though you've actually been accused irl and make up some random alibi.) Regardless of roleplaying or not, there is an "in-game" and "out-of-game" discussion. In-game discussion is affected by or affects the game's "plot" (e.g. trial discussion, which cannot occur during the nighttime). Out-of-game discussion has nothing to do with the actual game's plot (e.g. asking questions or discussion after game has ended) If there is a game currently going on, out-of-game discussion must be in parentheses.
7. If you wish to play, please try to be certain that you can play actively at least once every 48 hours. This game requires participation from everyone, even normal Villagers-- and if you have a special/active role, you are even further required to be active. It's alright if one or two people aren't able to participate each round, but if everyone opts out, even if they're not a special role, we can't play xP
8. Each player may only have one character max.

Possible Roles
(Red indicates Mafia-aligned, blue indicates Town-aligned. Black is... neither. Everyone gets a role, assigned at random. Everyone who is not a Villager is considered to have a "special role".)
-- Villager (everyone who does not have one of the below special roles): Does nothing special. Most vanilla role of the game, doesn't do anything during the night, is only allowed to communicate during the trial.
-- Mafia (approximately a third of the total number of players): Eliminates one villager every night. While everyone else isn't allowed to communicate at all outside of the public trial, Mafia may communicate between each other at any time (usually through PMs) in order to decide on a target, who is then DMed to me. If their attempt fails (due to intervention from one of the other roles), they must wait a cooldown of one night before picking the same target.
-- Medic (one player): May DM me one player to protect every night. Should the Mafia attempt to kill that person, they will instead fail. Has a three-night cooldown on picking the same person. You can choose to protect yourself.
-- Detective (one player) Can learn the faction (NOT ROLE) of one villager each night. That is, DM me the person you wish to investigate, and during the day, I will privately DM you whether they are Town-aligned or Mafia-aligned. (Note: it is sometimes a tactic to declare you are the Detective during the Trial to attempt to get people to vote out a certain person, but this may make you a target for the Mafia, and the Mafia can also pretend that they are the Detective, as with any other role.)
-- Role Blocker (one player): Can DM me one person whose action (if any) to block during the night, without knowing the role of the person. If the person is part of the Mafia, the entire Mafia becomes unable to kill someone. If the person is a Medic, their protection will be canceled out. (If a Medic gets role blocked, the Medic's cooldown on picking the same person is not put into effect.) If the person is a Detective, I will tell the Detective that their investigation has been interfered with. As always, you cannot privately ask people what role they are. Has a three-night cooldown on picking the same person.
-- Jester (one player, may or may not be included in the game depending on the number of players): Player whose sole purpose is to get eliminated during the trial (not by the Mafia!). When inspected by a Detective, they always appear to be Mafia-aligned, but they cannot talk to the actual Mafia. They are technically Town-aligned, but they get an extra prize if they manage to vote themself out (see Prizes post), therefore making their goal detrimental to the Town overall.
Note: If the Mafia's attempt to eliminate someone fails in any way (Medic or Role Blocker), it will not be specified why it failed/who or which role prevented it, simply that it failed to work.

Winning Faction
- Everyone in the winning faction receives 20k each. If the Town wins, all normal Villagers receive an extra 10k .
- In addition, everyone in the winning faction (dead or alive) is entered into a raffle to win a tagged 2c Baby Lamb Bulbori.

- Everyone still alive at the end of the game is entered into a raffle to win a tagged 2V Forsaken Guardian Ny'vene.
Special Roles
- Everyone with a special role is entered into a raffle to win a random avatar item. If I deem someone with a special role to have been inactive for the entirety of the game, they will be taken out of the raffle.
Jester Prize
- If the Jester successfully manages to get themself voted out (not eliminated by the Mafia), they will receive a regular Aurleon essence.

Purfolium runs the town hatchery, babysitting egglings and hatchlings for the town's Sylesties.
Character Description
Purfolium is overall a very happy Sylesti who loves her job and is well-connected in the community. She is very knowledgeable, but only about oddly-specific things that you would never actually need to know. She really enjoys red apples, but hates green ones. She's a major clutz and has been known to forget to cater to Sylesties without wings.
Character's House Description
The main entrance, a balcony with wide doors, is on the second floor because everyone in her family has wings. Holes between the floors are used to move between the three levels, but small staircases with dubious safety levels also connect them, and there is a small door around the back of the first floor that frequently jams. Creeping plants trail out of windows and pile in the front yard, and the entire lot is lined by a white picket fence. The house itself is painted in a combination of purple and black.
