Hello! I'm Alstoxen but feel free to call me Als, and welcome to Sylestia!

Here's a hopefully pretty Lune egg as a welcome gift.
(It should be pretty judging by the test breeds but you never know >.<)

Some Random Tips:

Don't. Use. Healers. They are a waste of money. Your will pets revive themselves after 30 minutes-ish (Not gonna lie I don't remember and I've also never timed it.) and they should heal on their own as long as you remember to leave the area before you get off.

Don't buy potions from the marketplace, you can get them for free by doing missions, also buy cheap high-leveled pets for missions so you'll have a better chance of not failing them. (Missions are a great way to get money too.)

Always do missions. guide here. Missions are probably the easiest way to get gold and free stuff. Just to make sure you always succeed, buy some high-level pets from the Advanced Search. There are always a few cheap level 70 pets on there, just put all of their proficiency points in one thing like health, name the pet, and send it on missions according to its highest stat. (Ex: Send your health pet on missions with the stat labeled: Health)

You can nurture pets till you get 1,000 scales or more and buy a lesser pet dye from the scale shop. Dyes sell for quite a bit on the broker and will make you a lot of gold quickly. (I think they sell for about 40k but I'm not entirely sure since I tend to hoard things instead of selling them -w-) You can also get essences from nurturing that you can sell or use to generate pets. During festivals, you can also earn some festival currency, which people will buy from you if you don't want to use it.

Unless you're breeding two themed pets (of the same theme), two high stat pets, or pets that just create beautiful babies, don't breed. Most pets don't sell if they are dishwater pets. (Pets that don't have many trait points, low stats, ugly colors, etc.) Also try to price pets over 500g since the Releasers of Sylestia tend to release any pet for sale under that price.

If you are trying to sell pets I would recommend getting them Genetically Tested. Pets that are tested are more likely to sell (in my experience don't know if this is actually true) since people can see all of the traits they have. I offer free testing services here.

If you have any questions, just ask and I'll answer as soon as I can.

do the gene and color potions alter their actual genetics or just the color of the individual?

and I have bought a couple beautiful babies pretty cheap :/ but they didnt have many mutations. I'm hoping to breed them up by saving g for future generations :) with the prices the way they are I try not to use traps at all.. but its still tempting.

thanks for the tip on healing, at the moment though I am rather impatient lol. that might be something for the future, or multi parties

Genetic mutators can only be used on Tamed pets, and they add a carried or visible trait (Greater Mutators add a visible trait (gene or mutation) of your choice, Lesser Mutators are random)

Dyes alter the color of your pet. Their colors are passed on to their offspring (though of course what color the offspring is will ultimately depend on who you breed them with)

Colors and genes are passed on to offspring. If both parents have a visible trait in a certain slot, the offspring will also have a visible trait in that slot. If one parent is visible and the other is carried in that slot, you have about a 50% chance of the offspring having a visible trait in that slot. If both parents are carried, there's about a 25% chance. If one is visible and the other has nothing in that slot at all, the baby will have a carried trait in that slot. If one parent is carried and the other has nothing, there's a chance the carry will be passed on as a carry to the offspring.

I hope I wasn't too confusing

Hi there! Welcome to Sylestia!

I'm Orca, and I'm head of the newbie mentor group here on the site

Some helpful links:

The Sylestia Wiki (a little outdated but still helpful)

and Newbie Mentoring group

Glassary

BTW just in case you don't know healers are a scam and don't get your potions form the marketplace and don't catch every pet you see (more aren't worth it)

You can also nurture, and when you get 1000 scales, go to the Scale Shop and buy some pet dyes, those sell very well on the broker. Like 40k per or something. Sometimes more. Usually more.

I'm also willing to give away pets and avi items so let me know if you want one

We also have a great roleplaying community and a really great RPG community and feel free to let me know if you ever want to join us :) We've got a large Warrior Cat and WoF fanbae here but we've got non-fandom and other fandom stuff as well!

Let me know if you got any questions-I'm happy to either answer them personally or direct you to someone who does

Some random tips:

Breeding.....Well, you can't really make too much profit from it anymore unless you have a themed, stattered pet, or something of that sort. Most things don't sell if they don't have lot of visibles/restricted trait sets,, aren't themed, are dishwasher pets, etc. Also price above 500g cuz the Releasers do release anything for sale that is under that-we're trying to help the economy and make pets actually worth it again

(Feel free to give me a ping if you want some pricing advice Smile )

Healers are a huge scam. Do not. Do not. But do missions-theres a guide here and you can also nurture to get scales and buy dyes to sell on the trade broker.

Guide to the Forums: here

We have a Summer Festival but that's ending rn unfortunately, though Fall Fest is coming soon :) However if you do manage to pick up some fest items sell them on the trade broker, you get quick gold that way and some of the forum games are still open, check Official Games for that.
