The oyster's mouth closes again. Anju bats at the pearl, marvelling at her reflection on the whitish sphere while Rowan darts in and tries to carry the pearl away in his jaws.

The sky is darker than before, a grey cloud obscuring the once blue sky.



I still stare at the sky waiting until I feel droplets of water falling.

With my Vulps, I swim back to the surface. While Rowan is still holding onto it, I pull the pearl closer for safe-keeping.
"Careful! I want to get this appraised next time we're in town," I say. Before either can respond, I add, "Of course, I'll probably keep it since you two seem to love it. I'm just curious!"
Before I continue swimming, I say "How about we return to the shore now?"
