The Mark of Silence

Intro
In the year 2012, on an alternate Earth, a distortion in reality began causing portions of humanity to begin developing strange and powerful magical powers. These individuals were known as the Marked due to the strange, tattoo like markings that manifested on their bodies as their powers developed.
Many hid from other humans while others openly abused their powers for criminal acts.
It is now the year 2018, 6 years after the phenomenon first hit the news and a powerful gang of Marked known as Salvation Silence has risen up and begun hitting the streets of Japan, calling for a complete overhaul of humanity, brutally using their powers to try to seize control of the world.
You are a resident of the city of Shinha, known to be the origin point of their operations and the strange distortion that has reshaped humanity.
So what side are you on, anyways?
TL;DR: This rp is about a super powered criminal gang bent on conquering humanity, magical humans called the Marked, and the police forces who deal with them, it might get dark at times and people might die.
Rules
1. Narrator's word is law. Outside of some exceptions, I have final say on all plot events. If you have any suggestions or ideas, feel free to drop me a PM and we can discuss it.
2. I reserve the right to remove players who are inactive or otherwise not following the rules/being disruptive.
3. Please ping me to be caught up on plot events. Keep in mind I won't be paying attention to every character conversation that may occur. Just the major stuff.
4. Don't abuse the pinglists.
If you are looking for interaction for your character, find it yourself or specify that your character is open for interaction.
For the sake of interaction and clarity, please specify your character's current location at the top of your post when posting.
Also keep pings more or less limited to the characters you are interacting with presently. Not everyone needs to be pinged every post about your side adventures or two person conversation.
5. Profanity and romance are fine, just please don't be excessive with either. Aim to be PG-13 and fully follow the site rules.
6. No OP/Mary/Gary Sue characters. Magic powers or not, you can still get hit. Dodging bullets is hard. Trust me. I'll fight you on it.
7. Remember, the setting is modern day. Marked characters are also generally publicly frowned on in this world. Keep that in mind.
8. Hate the character, not the player. Also keep in mind that your character can and may die at any point. This is not a light setting.
Locations:
Ratways Home to the hideout of Salvation Silence, the Ratways are named as such by the locals who consider the area to be a decrepit slum area of the city. It is largely avoided by the general public with the large number of Marked who traverse through the area for one reason or another.
Hideout Tucked in the Ratways, the Salvation Silence hideout is a dingy place, fashioned from an old set of former, abandoned manufacturing warehouses. Most of the inside has been revamped to allow for a safe area for members to regroup and rest between missions if need be, but its primary purpose is to allow for briefings and planning of the group's activities.
Choho Park A small nature park in the middle of the city. It is just outside the city plaza and provides a great resting place during the day for salarymen and college students alike. It is home to carefully maintained flower gardens, fruit trees, and a kid's playground.
City Plaza The origin site of the distortion 6 years ago that rocked the country of Japan. Strange energy emitted from the area in the past has been claimed responsible for the development of many marks.
Despite superstitions, the city plaza is home to many various shops, restaurants, and arcade and gaming parlors.
Residential Area A sleepy area of the city just outside the business district. Many residents of the city call their home here among apartment buildings and narrow alleyways.
Shinha Police Station One of the city's few police stations. Most major police operations for the city and regarding the Marked come through this building.
The 2nd floor is the Special Investigations department that can be accessed by elevator or stairwell.

For now, everyone will be starting in the Plaza. You have free roam, but please specify your current location at the top of your post for clarity's sake.)
Ryuji DeHaro Location: Plaza
Detective DeHaro kept himself on alert entering the plaza. From the tip off he had gotten from Yuu back at the station, there was meant to be some sort of gathering happening here today. Salvation Silence had clearly gotten more bold, operating in broad daylight like this.
Detective Miyahara kept at his side, munching on a bit of botamochi she had gotten off a vendor in the area as they kept on their patrol route and tried to remain out of sight while they investigated further.
Kiyoshi Kuroda Location: Plaza
Kiyoshi on the other hand was keeping himself alert for any officers in the area. Rey had given them quite the mission here and even if he had the feeling they were going to just come up empty handed, they couldn't really risk any gunfights now with Wes still recovering from the last time.
He didn't really know why he had ended up chosen as the temporary second in command, but he already felt a bit out of his league with all the new recruits.
He just hoped he'd be able to keep them off each other's throats long enough to get the job done.

As usual for her, Valeria stayed as far as possible from the main crowd as she walked down the street of the plaza. After the events that had occured here, a few buildings had been abandoned around the area and after her last training ground had been broken into she neaded a new place to let her powers loss. Granted, she could have chosed another moment to scout for abandoned places but then she woudn't be able to see what the area look like in case her cryptid self decide to escape to a more populated sector.

(Ack no hair help *droaneing in rps* all the rps started up and I'm not very active plus I have a teaching position on a rp forum.....sorry I might jump in later if that works? It's a little nuts atm)

Mikal had settled himself outside a caf. Being one of the less noticeable Marked, he got away with some normal activities...such as eating bagels. Because who didn't like bagels. (*cough cough orca hates them cough cough*). It was a good way to chillax while waiting for something exciting to happen.....
Or to stalk your estranged sister.
Both options worked out. Plus he could check out the local gossip. FInd out what the police were up to. And he ahd to be here for themeeting anyways.....

Luna was browign the various shops out of boredom. She as mostly tryign to decide what to do since she didn't have classes or anything goign on. So she justwalked around.

Little gadget had been sticking to the walls, testing out a new invention. The sparkling bracelet on her wrist was supposed to serve as a voice recognizer of sorts. She had designed it to lock onto a sample of someone's voice, then use the sample to identify them in a crowd by vocals alone. It was a work in progress, still not functioning properly, but getting there. If she had more funding, then she could really make progress. She tested it on a few passer-byers, trying not to draw too much attention, but still using her new creation as best she could.

(I'm terrible at visualizing places and also modern day weapons so yeah this might not be accurate)
Leah slouched against a wall in the shadows, examining the blade of her knife. It was no more dirty than it had been ten minutes ago, but she polished it with the edge of her sleeve regardless. This was monotonous, the waiting. And no playing any of your games, she'd been told. Avoid conflict if possible for this mission. Really, who did that these days?

Harvard paced restlessly, drumming his fingers against his (uhh let's be vague) gun. This would probably escalate quickly when the gang showed up, he knew, but right now it was looking more like could and if. It was a regular day as far as he could see, with random civilians going about their business, but at the moment, he was utterly bored. Which was a feeling he really hated.

Mel crossed her arms as she looked around squinting to see any sign of anything. She looked around worried, there were too many civilians here if a gang did show up. "See anything yet?" She asked Harvard. Her hand went to the hilt? (wait that's a sword, grip?_) of her pistol.
