Allow me to regale you with the tale of how we had combined rehearsal with orchestra and band, and I played the piano part for Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24 as performed by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra...
*damatic pause*
... And absolutely no one could hear me.
I mean, I'm sure they could but between the other percussion and the deafening wind instruments, it was probably impossible to make any separate instruments out.
Although it sounded awesome.
So I had to run on and off the stage, switching between piano and violin since the orchestra played in front of the stage but the piano was onstage with the band.
Did I mention that the piano was on the very side, so I couldn't see offstage, and facing the opposite direction of the conductor? The conductor cut us off and I couldn't see, so I kept playing, and the drummer, who was next to me, gave me an odd look.
Fortunately, no one else noticed.
And the first time I went onstage, I couldn't find the piano. You'd think an instrument that big would be kind of obvious, but it was on the side as I mentioned earlier and there were stands and stuff everywhere. I was literally standing next to it and didn't notice. I asked the drummer where the piano was. He was like, "Uh, Cana, it's on your left."
The second time I went onstage, I accidentally brought my violin with me. Then I had to run back down the stairs and put it on my chair. Awkward.
During a concert once, I accidentally left my sheet music onstage.
Fun times.
